The idea here was to use hand done type with a medium which looks raw as well as fresh, hence, the use of acrylics. The colour selction was derived from the whole idea of the brand name coming from the lasts of the forests left in the Nilgiris.

The idea here was to use hand done type with a background which had made using water col-ours, which again had a raw/rough feeling in its application. The colour selction was derived from the whole idea of the brand name coming from the lasts of the forests left in the Nilgiris.

Hand done explorations

Page 3: 2nd set of iterations

The idea here was to use hand done using a medium which is from the forest itself, and cinnamon sticks also gave a feel of dry woods, coming from the idea of extinction of forest life, again inspired from the brand name itself.

Hand done explorations

Page 4: 2nd set of iterations

This was another variation of the cinnamon idea, with addition of spray paint on the cinnamon sticks, thus giving a feel of the forest, but very scantily, which again emphasizes the point of extinc-tion of forest life slowly.

Hand done explorations

Page 5: 2nd set of iterations

These explorations came up in the process of doing another variationof the cinnamon+spray paint idea. What I was trying to achieve here was the feel of the gradual extinction of forests, hence few cinnamon sticks were left behind while others were taken out to show the blank spaces left behind by the gradual decline of forest life.

Hand done explorations

Page 6: 2nd set of iterations

This was yet another variation of the same idea, where all the sticks have been removed, so the type is formed here by the blank spaces left behing by the sticks, again emphasizing the absence of something, which was there before.

The idea here was to show the forest as well as all the people there who are involved in the entire production process of all the products. I got different people to paint their hands and make these marks around the tree cutout forming the type, thus showing the people behind the brand.

Page 8: 2nd set of iterations

This idea was another variation of the above idea, but the emphasis here being just on the name forming from the branches of a tree, thus showing the background of the brand as well as the natural quality of the products.

Hand done explorations

These were other attempts at doing hand done type, using acrylics and oil pastels respectively, yet again showing the natural quality of the products.

Hand done explorations

Page 10: 2nd set of iterations

These explorations were done to make variations of the existing logo. I used watercolurs in an ab-stract style using colurs which were very obvious forest colours.

These explorations were inspired from kolams which are traditional motifs drawn outide houses in that area, and I came across a few during my research. The background textures have been hand done as well.
