They have been learning about how environmental impacts alter landscapes and habitats for animals in our Integrated Studies unit. The students enjoyed expanding their knowledge about climate change and how it will affect our future. It was lovely to see all the students engaged throughout the session. Many students shared fantasc ideas about how to reduce our carbon footprint and they each chose a personal goal to work towards with their families to combat climate change. MONDAY MORNING GREETING It was once again wonderful to have well over 650 aendees to our Morning Greeng with our special guest, our Principal Karen Jenkin. It was wonderful to see all of the studentsfaces as she unmuted herself and said hello to them all! I will send out a link to the next greeng on Sunday. Looking forward to seeing everyone then. A DAY IN THE LIFE… In next week’s newsletter I would love to share “A day in the life of…” from the perspectives of students, staff and parents. If we have some students and parents who would like to write something short that gives a snapshot of your day we would love to hear from you. As we all balance our various roles and navigate the challenges that we are facing it would be great to share some of our day to day activities. If our pieces could take the structure: • Today I woke up and… • Before I started my tasks for the day I… • By lunchtime I had already… • My afternoon included… • In the evening I… • When I began getting ready for bed, I reflected on 2 things that had worked really well for

me today and that gave me joy, which were… LEARNING FROM HOME INFORMATION FOR PARENTS Staff work hours at home will be 8.45am-3.45pm all school days. Bonjour, Pinewood Primary School community. I would like to share some of the French work produced by the students in different year levels this week. Some grades are enjoying online activities on Linguascope and Languagenut or online quizzes that cannot be shared in the newsletter. Many year 5 and some year 6 students are preparing PowerPoint presentations for an interschool French competition. Their work looks amazing! Join us in wishing them good luck! Their efforts and extra time allocated to this task are remarkable. Mademoiselle Mahony and I are proud of all our students who are submitting their French work every

week. We encourage everyone to be consistent and practise their French regularly. Make good use of the

online platforms!

OSHClub News OSHClub Theme Days! Last week was Book Week and to celebrate OSHClub’s love for books, we decided to have two themed dress-up days that represented books currently enjoyed by the children. Wednesday was full of wizards and witches for our ‘Harry Potter Day’. Children were very impressed with the Hogwarts badges that we made and wore. Friday, we embraced our inner kings and queens as we celebrated ‘Medieval Day’ with crowns and wands galore. This Friday we are getting sporty with a ‘Footy Colours Day’ that should be great fun! Holiday Care Bookings and Brochure Reminders: Holiday Care bookings can be made online up to 5 days before the session commences. To make bookings after this time, please contact our Service directly on our mobile number listed below. Late bookings will incur an additional $4.00 fee. We want to reassure you that if any days of our Holiday Care program are unable to go ahead (because of lockdown) you will not be charged for any fees for your bookings that are affected! OSHClub families, please keep an eye out for the Holiday Care brochure coming to your email inbox this week! The brochure will provide you with the theme and description of each day, allowing you to choose which days may interest your children. Please book in as we are very excited about all the fun activities that we are planning for your children! The Holiday Care brochure is also on display in the Parent’s Area of OSH-Club and we have spare copies for you to take home if you would like. Hoping we see some warmer weather coming our way now that it is Spring, allowing for all of our OSHClub families to get some well-deserved sun! Paige Crane, Stephanie Voon and the OSHClub Team. This week in art we explored “Letters” and the many ways in which letters can be expressed as art images. As always, we received amazing responses from the students who applied their individual creativity to the task, resulting in these magnificent art works. We also continued

to receive some fabulous insect work which reflected great skill, detail and some amazing three dimensional effects. It is really interesting to note the ways in which involvement in the creative arts may be useful for managing stress and increasing wellbeing at this current time. Recent research suggests that engagement in creative tasks may:

• Reduce stress and cortisol levels

• Increase creative flow and wellbeing

• Boost self esteem and a sense of accomplishment

• Assist in the development of concentration and engagement We are so grateful for the parental support of the Visual Arts program at this time and the assistance you are providing the students with, regarding materials, resources and implementation. Kindest regards, Francine Combes and Hayley Wilson
