“Friends for Fun, Safety and Knowledge”

Well here we are in February. What happened

to January?

It flew by. It started off with rescheduling the Polar

Bear ride because of bad weather. The first meeting

of the year went well with new officers presiding.

The month continued with members getting ready

for Winter Warm-Up. Individuals attended

practices and it was amazing to see how everyone

still had what it took to bend and squat when necessary. We all had a

great time at the Warm-Up. Our skit got second place missing first by

just one point. The chapter won several awards. We won Illinois District

Chapter of the Year 2017, Illinois District Newsletter of the Year 2017,

2nd Place Chapter Skit, 2nd Place Chapter Costume Competition, 2nd Place

Centerpiece Competition, and Certificate of Appreciation for participating

in the Chapter Shirt Competition, Certificate of Appreciation for

participating in the Banner Competition, and 2017 Chapter of the

Year Silver Level. Walter Potwora won First Place in Other in the Bike

Show, Jean Potwora won First Place in 2017 Meet the Chapters Fun Run,

Jean Potwora won 2nd Place in Skit Costume, Martha Ribbing went from

Master to Senior Master, and Carol Evans won Membership Enhancement

Coordinator of the Year. Jean Potwora and Martha Ribbing won money.

Baskets and prizes were won by several. Everyone is looking forward to

next year.

The Polar Bear Ride was a success. Mother Nature cooperated and

gave us a beautiful day. Three chapters joined together for fun and

camaraderie. Chapter O had 16 members present. Dan and Carol Evans,

Larrie and Karla Wiggand, Walt and Jean Potwora, Dan and Martha

Ribbing, and Ray and Mary Ruder braved the weather and road their bikes.

Bill and Cheryl Cook, Jim and Vicky Dillard, and Ed and Sue Roberts

arrived in other vehicles.

We are looking forward to next month and hope it is just as busy.

try to attempt to explain it to you, Database I mean.

Also, at the Winter Warm-up, Rider Ed sold tickets for 24 inch LED TV. The lucky winner was Virgil

Our first month of our new Directors is in the books, and I think

the year started off doing well. We had to cancel our scheduled

Polar Bear Ride, because Mother Nature did not cooperate. But

it is always better to error on the side of safety. Our social had two new members

attending with a full house of members. I think the introductions of officers and their contributions was a

very nice touch and very well done. Good Job, Dan & Carol. Next, we had two two-hour Winter Warm

Up skit practices, what fun! For our efforts we won second place for our “Who Remembers the Dances of

the Fifty’s” skit. Lots of fun and laughs. On the 19 th & 20th, 10 members went to Winter Warm Up in

Springfield, some had responsibilities, others went to classes or gave them, some just had fun. Overall,

Chapter O did very well. Here is a list of awards won by members of the Chapter: 2017 Chapter of the

Year, 2017 Membership Enhancement Coordinator of the Year (Carol Evans), Silver Level for Chapter of

the Year, Newsletter of the Year, Second Place for Chapter Display (Martha Ribbing), Second Place Chapter

Skit, Second Place Best Dressed Chapter and Female (Jean Potwora), Martha Ribbing received Senior

Master Tour Rider, Walter Potwora won the Other category in the Winter Bike Show Contest helping to

bring in over $300 for the district. Jean Potwora won first place in the “Meet the Chapters” poker run and

received a check for $100, and Dan & Carol’s daughters, Connie & Yvonne, found the medallion on

Saturday. Great fun for the weekend. At our Ice Cream Get together on the 24th, we met two new members,

Ron & Christine, and hope to see them again soon. The last event of the month was a sponsor’s dinner at

Uncle Linny’s in Pontoon Beach with 14 members attending, with a Missouri guest, Tom Braun. Everyone

seemed to being a lot of fun, as many conversations were going at one time. Hope to see everyone at our

next event.
