2nd Imphal National Muaythai Challenger 2013 grand success
It is a great news that there is a marked improvement in the 2nd
Imphal National Muaythai Challenger Cup 2013 which was held
at the great city of Imphal, Manipur. The event was held from
February 1 to 3, 2013 at the SAI Indoor Boxing Stadium, Khuman
Lampak, Imphal. The Opening Ceremony was marked with the
thrilling presentation of Manipur traditional Martial Arts (Thang-
Ta) by Manipur Thang-Ta artistes while the Closing Program
became the most memorable one as a well-known local singer
Bobin presented a “Muaythai Song” written by MFI Secretary
General O Manglemjao.
Muaythai fighters from Tamil Nadu performed well this time
while Manipur retained their highest medal tally status. Fighters
from West Bengal and Assam also had shown their immense rise this time in 2nd
Imphal National Muaythai Challenger
Cup 2013 at Imphal.
The fight between L Suraj Singh of Manipur and Samar Sarkar of Assam in 75 kilo
category became one of the most exciting matches. In the 2nd
Round, Samar fell
down and then his opponent Suraj further fell over his fallen body resulting to
fracturing his left hand. And the Doctor had to declare that he would not fight further
and this led to the declaration of Suraj a winner.
MFI President Oken Jeet Sandham had lauded the Organizers of the 2nd
Imphal
National Muaythai Challenger Cup 2013 for successfully staging the event in a very
remarkable manner. He also thanked the Organizers and people for their excellent
hospitality to the teams coming from various parts of the country.
Oken Jeet
Sandham also
called upon
the leaders and members of the MFI to be sincere
in their working and approach while trying to
organize and promote Muaythai in anywhere in
the country. He told the gathering that they
should always work to strengthen the
International Federation- IFMA. “Because of
IFMA, we are here today,” he said. “As such, it is
our bounden duty to strengthen IFMA.”
Many MFI leaders and special Invitees from
across the country attended the event. Ex-
Minister Brajagopal Sharma graced the Closing
Function as Chief Guest.
