In evry high and stormy galeMy anchor holds within the vale *
* On Christ, the solid Rock, I standAll other ground is sinking sandAll other ground is sinking sand
His oath, His covenant, His bloodSupport me in the whelming floodWhen all around my soul gives wayHe then is all my Hope and Stay *
When He shall come with trumpet soundOh, may I then in Him be foundDressed in His righteousness aloneFaultless to stand before the throne *
Blessed AssuranceBlessed assurance, Jesus is mine!Oh, what a foretaste of glory divine!Heir of salvation, purchase of God,Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood.
This is my story, this is my song,Praising my Savior all the day long; This is my story, this is my song,Praising my Savior all the day long.
Perfect submission, perfect delight,Visions of rapture now burst on my sight;Angels, descending, bring from aboveEchoes of mercy, whispers of love.
Perfect submission, all is at rest,I in my Savior am happy and blest,Watching and waiting, looking above,Filled with His goodness, lost in His love.

Message: The ABCD of Baptism
The sacrament and ordinance of baptism is
administered by the church in obedience to the
command of Christ that the nations should be
converted, baptized, and taught all that Christ has
commanded (Mt 28:19-20).
Baptism represents and seals our union with Christ
(Rom 6:lff), the outpouring of the Holy Spirit (Jn
1:33), and resulting regeneration, adoption, andcleansing from sin (Tit 3:5-6).
By baptism we are initiated into the covenant
community (Acts 2:41; 1 Cor 12:13), and made
members of the body ofChrist.
Luke 18:15-17 Now they were bringing even
infants to him that he might touch them. And
when the disciples saw it, they rebuked them.
(16) But Jesus called them to him, saying, "Let
the children come to me, and do not hinder
them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God.
(17) Truly, I say to you, whoever does not
receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not
enter it."

God gave the word/promise of adoption. Genesis
17:7 *God said to Abraham,+ And I will establish
my covenant between me and you and your
offspring after you throughout their generations foran everlasting covenant, to be God to you and to
your offspring after you.
The Lord Jesus confirmedGods word of adoption
by his death and resurrection. John 20:17 Jesus
said to *Mary Magdalene+, go to my brothers and
say to them, I am ascending to my Father and your
Father, to my God and your God. See also
Galatians 4:4-7.
Our adoption is sealed in water baptism with the
Spirit of adoption.
Galatians 3:26-29 for in Christ Jesus you are
all sons of God, through faith. (27) For as many
of you as were baptized into Christ have put on
Christ(29) And if you are Christ's, then you

are Abraham's offspring, heirs according to
promise.
Galatians 4:6-7 ESV And because you are sons,
God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our
hearts, crying, "Abba! Father!" (7) So you are
no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, thenan heir through God.
Romans 8:15 For you did not receive the spirit
of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have
received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by
whom we cry, "Abba! Father!"
Ephesians 1:13-14 In him you also, when you
heard the word of truth, the gospel of your
salvation, and believed in him, were sealed
with the promised Holy Spirit, (14) who is the
guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire
possession of it, to the praise of his glory.
B - ________________
In baptism, we are united to Christ and all His
benefits the benefits of His kingdom become
ours. We belong to God as Christ belongs to Him.
God is our Father. We receive the Spirit of Christ.
We receive forgiveness and righteousness. We
receive new life and sanctification. We receive thenurture of the church and we in turn share in
mutual giving and encouragement. We take part in
extending the kingdom of God.
C - ________________
The parents of the child, and his ninongs and
ninangs, should model and instill commitment in
the child, commitment to God and His ways. They
should model and expect faith in Christ. Theyshould model and expect obedience to God.
Deuteronomy 6:4-7 "Hear, O Israel: The LORD
our God, the LORD is one. (5) You shall love
the LORD your God with all your heart and with
all your soul and with all your might. (6) And
these words that I command you today shall be
on your heart. (7) You shall teach them
diligently to your children, and shall talk of
them when you sit in your house, and when
you walk by the way, and when you lie down,
and when you rise.
D- ________________ & ________________
Commitment to God and His ways means being a
disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Matthew 28:18-20 And Jesus came and said to
them, "All authority in heaven and on earth has
been given to me. (19) Go therefore and disciple
all nations, baptizing them in the name of the
Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, (20)
teaching them to observe all that I have
commanded you. And behold, I am with you
always, to the end of the age."
Hebrews 12:5-11 And have you forgotten the
exhortation that addresses you as sons? "My son,
do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord,
nor be weary when reproved by him. (6) For the
Lord disciplines the one he loves, and chastises
every son whom he receives."
(7) It is for discipline that you have to endure.
God is treating you as sons. For what son is therewhom his father does not discipline?
(8) If you are left without discipline, in which
all have participated, then you are illegitimate
children and not sons.
(9) Besides this, we have had earthly fathers
who disciplined us and we respected them. Shall
we not much more be subject to the Father of
spirits and live? (10) For they disciplined us for a
short time as it seemed best to them, but he
disciplines us for our good, that we may share his
holiness.(11) For the moment all discipline seems
painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields
the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who
have been trained by it.

COVENANT VOWS FOR THE PARENTS
The minister asks the parents the following:
1. Do you acknowledge your childs need of the
cleansing blood of Jesus Christ, and the
renewing grace of the Holy Spirit? (Yes we do)
2. Do you trust in Gods covenant promises in
his/her behalf, and do you look in faith to the
Lord Jesus Christ for his/her salvation, as you
do for your own? (Yes we do)
3. Do you now unreservedly dedicate your child to
God, and promise, in humble reliance upon
divine grace, that you will endeavor to set
before him/her a godly example, that you will
pray with and for him/her, that you will teach
him/her the doctrines of our holy faith, and
that you will strive, by all the means of Godsappointment and grace, to bring him/her up in
the nurture and admonition of the Lord? (Yes
we do)
4. On the basis of your faith expressed here, do you
resolve by the grace of God, not only to bring
him/her up as your natural son/daughter, but
also, from this day forward, to consider
him/her as your brother/sister in the Lord, as a
joint heir of all Gods covenant blessings? (Yes
we do)
COVENANT VOWS FOR THE CONGREGATION
The minister asks the congregation the following:
Do you as a congregation undertake the
responsibility of a covenant community in assisting
these parents in the Christian nurture of this child?
(Please signify your response by saying, Amen.)
COVENANT VOWS FOR THE NINONGS/NINANGS
The minister asks the following:
Do you, Ninongs and Ninangs, as second parents
of the child, undertake the responsibility in
assisting these parents in the Christian nurture of
this child?
(Please signify your response by saying Yes I do.)
WATER BAPTISM
Relying on Gods promise of adoption and obeying
the command of our Lord Jesus to baptize, we shall
now baptize this child in the name of the Father,
Son and Spirit.
(Baptism will be done at the entrance)
BENEDICTION FOR THE CHILD
(Prayer for the child)
The blessing of God Almighty, Father, Son, and Holy
Spirit, descend upon you, and dwell in your heart
forever. Amen.
CHARGE TO THE CONGREGATION
This child is now received into Christs Church. You
the people of this congregation, in receiving this
child, promise with Gods help to be his/her people
to the end that he/she may faithfully walk with
Christ all his/her days, and come at last to His
eternal kingdom. Jesus said, Whosoever shall
receive one such little child in My name receives
Me.
CONGREGATIONAL SPEECH
The congregation stands and speaks together to the
child.
Little child,
for you Jesus Christ came to this earth,
struggled and suffered;
for your sake He crossed Gethsemane and went
through the darkness of Calvary;
for your sake He cried: It is finished;
for your sake He died and for your sake He
overcame death;
indeed for your sake, little child, and you still
know nothing of it. And thus the word of the
apostle is confirmed: We love God, for He
loved us first.
