Belgrade is a town at the junction of the Sava and Danube rivers, seven thousand years old. The Sava coming from the west, and the Danube arriving from the north join their waters to proceed eastwards. The fortress, built on the high ground is overlooking the confluence of these two rivers. Belgrade was laid in ruins some sixty times but always arose from its cinders. For centuries it was a frontier fortress, the apple of contend between the rivaling invaders, Romans, Goths, Huns, Byzantines, Crusaders, Hungarians, Turks and the others. The first record of the name was Singidunum. In the 9th century A.D. documents call it “Alba Graeca” - “White City” which is precisely what Belgrade means in Serbian.

It is a spacious and representative villa built of white stone in the Serbian-Byzantine style. The Ethnographic Museum houses a large number of ethnographic items, organized into separate collections (household items, jewelery, customs, traditional costumes, national architecture, economy, animal husbandry, transport, ceremonial items etc.), and it has one of the richest professional libraries in the Balkans. Belgrade underground tour - Some of Belgrade's best kept secrets still to be found out lie underground, from Roman halls to military tunnels and command cen- ters. Highlights include: Roman Hall. Army bunker, Big gunpowder warehouse, Wine cellar in the cave.. Boat Tour – Belgrade wouldn't be the city it is without the Sava and Danube rivers, which have helped shape Serbia's history and culture for millennium. Belgrade Boat tour gives you a flavor of this history and culture as well as an entirely different perspective of the city. One of the best times to enjoy Belgrade Boat tour is in the evenings, when the sun is beginning to set. NIGHT LIFE: Belgrade has a reputation for offering a vibrant nightlife, and many clubs that are open until dawn can be found throughout the city. Bars, clubs, rafts and casinos work every day of the week. A contagious atmosphere or crazy parties and good fun rules. The defining detail of the Belgrade clubbing scene are the river banks. Ships and rafts are open throughout the year, although the largest crowd gathers, naturally, in the summer. Ada Ciganlija is a fascinating zone of nightlife in Belgrade. Visit one of the rafts on the Sava or Danube quay. Entrance to the clubs is mostly free, taxis are not expensive, and neither are alcoholic drinks. Best of all, Belgraders are a friendly bunch and will be happy to party with you.
