AMETEK Solidstate Controls (SCI) was established in 1962 with the purpose of providing continuity of power to businesses. This was accomplished with UPS (uninterruptible power supplies), industrial battery chargers, power conditioners, and much more. While our products have advanced with the movement of times, our focus has not. We now have more than 50,000 systems installed around the world.SCI is part of the AMETEK, Inc. family. PetrochemicalThe Petrochemical industry breaks down into the two most common classes, Olefins and Aromatics. Processes vary from fluid catalytic cracking, steam cracking in oil refineries to steam cracking, used in chemical plants. SCI manufactures power protection equipment for both. Due to the hazardous chemicals and reactions produced, the need for continuous, clean power is vital to production.

Power GenerationIn the power generation industry, clean, consistent electrical power is vital to a wide range of applications. SCI's equipment protects power plant functions from the turbine machinery (lube pumps) to data and control functions (SCADA and DCS).

Pipeline & TransmissionPipelines and transmission stations are typically remote by nature. These remote locations put extra emphasis on the reliability of the power supply, as it may take hours or days for a technician to arrive and handle any glitches that may arise from power disturbances. On top of that, safety and equipment protection is paramount, as power outages can damage the valves and pumps required for safe transportation of the product (s) through the pipeline. SCI designed specialized hardware and software, incorporated within the UPS, to manage the servers controlling pipeline protocols using real-time backup battery life data.

Oil and GasPower protection and conditioning are vital to Oil and Gas applications as downtime is costly, in addition to being a safety issue. SCI offers a range of AC and DC power solutions for upstream, downstream, and transmission (pipelines).

Our UPS, inverters, and battery chargers are designed to meet the specific, demanding needs of the Oil and Gas industry. From design life of over 20 years to our in-house manufacturing of transformers (the heart of every industrial power system), you can rest assured your power needs will be met.

NuclearThe Nuclear Power Industry requires the most stringent process and quality control procedures. Due to the critical nature of these applications, SCI engineers design our equipment for a 40-year design life. To ensure that this requirement is met, each piece of equipment undergoes rigorous environmental qualification, aging analysis, seismic qualification, and testing in accordance with applicable IEEE standards, and NRC requirements. SCI developed the first digital control 1E qualified UPS.

Process IndustriesProcess industries include a wide range of applications from pulp/paper to silicon, steel and metals/mining. Technology advances in manufacturing practices require clean, uninterruptible power in many processes, which are automated and controlled by complex distributed control systems (DCS). Glitches in power may result in product loss, equipment damage or even safety concerns. SCI supplies the power conditioning equipment that keeps process businesses in business with the insurance of our equipment capable of withstanding harsh environments.
