Principal’s ReportCongratulations to our Year 12’s who have completed their formal schooling. The celebrations such as assemblies and the graduation dinner are fantastic way to end thirteen years of schooling. Good luck to all of our Year 12 students sitting their HSC examinations over the following months.

Remember the future is not defined by your exams. The future begins after they have finished. It is always important to give everything you do your very best shot, but make sure you keep some perspective. When you walk out of that final exam, you have the world at your feet.Tonight will be the final send off for our Year 12’s. The dinner is a fantastic occasion, made even better as it is organised and run by our volunteer parents, staff and students. Thank you all for taking time out of your busy schedules to help support our Year 12 students as they graduate from THLHS.Last Friday our Year 10 students attended the Funds for the Future workshops held at the Grenfell TAFE. This was a community organised event that was hugely successful. It’s always amazing to see what can be achieved when resources are combined. A big thank you to all the community members who gave up their valuable time for the benefit of our school. See this newsletter for a full report.

Our Year 9 students thoroughly enjoyed the Weddin Mountain challenge held last Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. We were again joined by Sir Joseph Banks High School from Sydney to make the event a special one.Thank you to all the staff, parents and students that made this such a great activity, and in particular to Ms Nicola Mitton who worked long and hard on the planning, organisation and execution of this very large and important event. See this newsletter for a full report.Congratulations to Anna Hunt and the NSW under 18’s football team. Anna and her team mates took out the School Sport Australia 2019 football championship in Queensland last week. Well done Anna on your inclusion in the team and on your successful tournament. A terrific achievement.

Have a great break and recharge the batteries. I am looking forward to seeing everyone fresh and ready to go in term 4. School will resume for students on Monday 14th October.Aaron FlaggPrincipal

Funds for the FutureOn Friday 20 September, Year 10 were involved in the Funds for the Future Day. The event was sponsored by National Australia Bank and consisted of members of the community and surrounds running workshops on a range of financial issues.Jag a job was presented by Gordon, Garling and Moffit lawyer Mrs Rachael Power, explaining to students how to present themselves in an interview, how to prepare a resume, questions to ask, research the job and goal setting.Representatives from the National Australia Bank shared tips and tools on how to save money through a range of apps and bank accounts.Mr Mark Aspin showed the students how to prepare a budget, using real life examples. This exemplified how easy it is to live beyond your means, especially when you first go out into the real world.Balance accountants worked through the tax system and superannuation, explaining how deductions work and the purpose of superannuation. All students were supplied with a lovely morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea catered by our Year 11 hospitality team.A huge effort and thank you to Mr Phil Diprose, Mrs Beth Knight, Sarah Knight, TAFE and the presenters on the day. It was a great community initiative that will be a benefit to the students in the future.

WEDDIN MOUNTAIN CHALLENGELast week Year 9 students travelled to the Weddin Mountains for the annual Weddin Mountain Challenge. This year we were joined by nine students from our partner school Sir Joseph’s Banks High School in Sydney. This was a great opportunity to meet with our pen pals from last year as well as some new faces. We had a great time climbing the mountain, testing some student’s fitness levels. We walked to Ben Halls Cave and Seaton’s Farm which was a great experience for the Sir Joseph Banks students to be involved in. The Sir Joseph Banks High School students joined in new experiences of camping as well as rounding up sheep at Paul Taylor’s farm. It was great to see everyone from both schools interacting with each other, sharing the different aspects of each schools culture. A big thank you to parents, teachers, especially Mrs Mitton for organising the trip. A great time was had by all. Nikki Chalker

POSSIBLE ENCORE PERFORMANCE FOR JESSE? While the HSC examinations are still a month away, our music students have already had their performance pieces marked.
