Veterans of Foreign Wars August | 2015
From The Post Commander:
I could not have been more proud of our Post for the 2015 State conven-tion. We started last October and began to
form committee’s and worked through the year and when all was said and done we had 22 active committee’s and wow did they all do a GREAT JOB! I want to thank all of you who participated. I wish there was enough room to do so individually but there isn’t. You all know who you are. THANK YOU! And we couldn’t have done any of it without our friends in the Sheridan School District; man did they help A LOT. Thanx to you guys as well.
I hate to say it after all that work some of us put in for the conven-tion but we are coming into our busy part of the year. Our first half of the year meal planning meeting will be August 19th @ 5:30 PM. I’m sure that some of the same mem-
bers who worked so hard on the convention will be participating cooking and serving our meals as well, and I’ll just bet they would appreciate others chipping in and helping this year. Give it a try you might find it is fun .
Don’t forget about our Community Service endeavors. We have had several meetings with the Sheridan school district and they are very excited about our presentation and willingness to assist with their stu-dents in our VOD, Patriots Pen and Just Say No programs. If you are interested in helping with these programs please contact Lacey Hohn our Jr. Vice Commander and youth chairman. Please keep the community service reports coming in. If you don’t know what you are doing as community service but think it might be turn it in and let us decide. More often than not it is.
Do you know who Paul Leveque is? He is our Sr.Vice Commander and membership chairman. Paul is anx-iously awaiting your contribution of one new member for the year.
In closing I want to say “Thank you for all you do!” God Bless you and please remember our troops.
Sincerely,
Ron Davies
Post Commander

From the Post Chaplain:
From the Ladies Auxiliary President:
My name is Concetta Kile and I am the new President of the Ladies Auxiliary. I am a
life member but have only been a member for 4 years. I am very excited to be working
with each of you and hope you will join with us to make this the best organization in
the state. I am one person, that you have put your trust in by electing me. Yet, because
I am one person I cannot do it all myself. Together we can do so much to support the
Ladies Aux and the VFW Post 9644.
We have many great plans for this year but we need your help. Please come to our next
meeting on August 5th. Get to know the new members and give us the opportunity to
know you. We need each of you and the experience you have.
I am honored to be your president and look forward to working with each of you.
Sincerely, Concetta Kile
Ladies Auxiliary President
Convention is over and now the work begins with our new officers. Many are new and need our "wisdom"
and patience-not criticism. Step up and help with the programs.
The Memorial service once again emphasizes our ranks are thinning. Statewide 575 comrades deceased,
254 Ladies auxiliary members and 6 from the Men's auxiliary. Our District 10 had 108 comrades and
75 Ladies auxiliary. Hats off and a big 'thank you' to ALL who helped in any way to make Post 9644 the Best
Host in the West!!! Be sure and check the lobby for the awards you worked for all year.
Comrades-I hope you read your VFW magazine in reference to the change in benefits. I cannot preach
louder or clearer-GET THE PAPERWORK started. I had another call about end of life benefits. No filing, no
benefits. YOU are your own worst enemy if you don't do anything. I'm still here to help--if asked. I'm not chasing you.
Get well card to Past Cmdr. Terry Goad, who had a heart attack and a 3 way by-pass at the VA. He is in the VA rehab at this
writing. Card sent to Past Cmdr. Louie Ruggeri. Sympathy card sent to family of deceased Life Member John Dwyer.
The month of August honors our Purple Heart veterans on August 7 and on the 14th Japan surrendered, thus ending World War
II seventy years ago.
Lord, watch over and bless all our service personnel deployed around the world, those in hospitals, the PTSD patients, those
grieving and our homebound members.
LET YOUR PAST MAKE YOU BETTER- not bitter.

CONGRATULATIONS VFW 9644!!
Verle uffman VFW Post 9644 is the only Post in Colorado to achieve ALL AMERICAN POST
status. Past Commander Louis and Past Quartermaster Don are All American Post Team Mem-
bers. They get to wear the "hat" and have the individual honors but, it took every one in the Post
to make this happen. Our Post members provided important services to veterans, their families
and our communities Last year we supported and completed every Department of Colorado
Community Service program which made us eligible for designation as an All American Post.
But we can't rest on our laurels. We have a new year and with it, both old and new challenges.
I'm proud to be member of this post and you should be also. Our heritage has proven that there was no greater group of
men and women in the Department of Colorado VFW organization. Our Post is once again the best. Let's work togeth-
er and do it again in this 2015-2016 year.
