Condition Monitoring:

On-Board Diagnostic do not replace manual inspections of the Cylinder Condition, but it use the data collected and help predicting when overhaul is needed.

OBD combine and evaluate on-board data already present:

• Manual measured wear-data of piston rings and ring-grooves

• COCOS data from engine- and alarm system

• On-board drain oil analyses or shore based analysis data

• Guiding overhaul interval

Drain oil

OBD used drain oil analysis data:

Drain oil analysis is like evaluating blood samples from Human Beings.

Drain oil samples on-board normally gives information regarding Iron and BN, thus enabling the crew to operate within our recommendations in SL2013-571

When oil samples are sent ashore for lab testing, a more detailed report is generated.
