I will be relieving in the position until the end of the term. Last week, Glenroi Heights PS held their annual swimming carnival. Well done to all children that attended. It was fantastic to see the house spirit with many dressing in their house colours and writing chants. It was also pleasing to hear from the pool that they were impressed with the behaviour and manners of all the children. Congratulations to all the winners on the day and good luck to our swimmers who will be competing at the Orange District Carnival on Wednesday. PLPs will be happening in the coming weeks. This is a great opportunity for the parents, children and teachers to discuss the amazing things your child is doing. It also allows you the chance to set some learning goals for your child. Information about the PLPs will be coming home very soon. We received some fantastic news yesterday that we have been successful in obtaining a Sustainability Grant which will look at how we can help the environment around our school. Hi fives all round, especially to Miss McAlister and Mr Kearns for all the hard work they put into the submission for the grant. Have a great week. Chris Sutton Assistant Principal

Message from the Principal

On Friday, Mrs Beasley will be taking some well-deserved leave.

STAGE NEWS UNIFORMS Early Stage 1 Uniforms can be purchased from the school office.

Polo Shirts $10 Hoodies $20 Hats $10 As you may be aware we are looking to change the school uniform from green to black. We have found that black shorts and tracksuit pants and a lot easier to find than the green. Last year we sent out a survey to see how parents felt about this. We will be following this up over the next couple of week. Please note that changing the school uniform is a 2 year process and parents will not be expected to change the uniform straight away. We have attached the survey on our Facebook page for any parents that have not previously done it.

HEALTH NOTIFICATION We have been notified that a student at our school has Hand, Foot and Mouth disease if your child displays the following symptoms please seek medical advice.

Hand, foot and mouth disease starts with blisters that begin as small red dots which later become ulcers. Blisters appear inside the cheeks, gums, and on the sides of the tongue, as well as on the palms of the hands and soles of the feet. In infants, blisters can sometimes be seen in the nappy area. Blisters usually last for 7 to 10 days. Children can sometimes have a low fever, sore throat, tiredness, feel off colour and may be off their food for a day or two. For more information go to https://www.health.nsw.gov.au/Infectious/factsheets/Factsheets/handfootmouth.pdf

Early Stage 1 have been having lots of fun learning their numbers. Counting from 0-10. Clever little learners.

Stage 1 Stage 1 have been doing multimedia lessons about Lou. Lou is a creature who is made out of items in a lost-and-found box in the playground. He stops a young bully, JJ, from stealing from other kids and instead inspires him to start reuniting all the kids with their missing belongings.

Stage 2 & 3 Stages 2 and 3 have been doing lots of amazing work with Dashbots in their STEM classes. They are learning about coding

and how to make the robots work. Looks like fun!

Portrait and group package orders are due by photography day. Should you wish to purchase a sibling photograph online, the order must be placed no later than the day before photography day. HEAD LICE Glenroi Heights Public School

Head Lice Alert! Dear Parents/Carer This is to inform you that a case of head lice ‘nits’ was found at school. Please carefully check your child’s hair tonight. The easiest most effective way to find head lice is to follow these steps weekly: Step 1: Comb hair conditioner on to dry, brushed detangled hair. This makes it difficult for lice to grip the hair or run around. Step 2: Comb through the hair wiping the conditioner from the comb onto paper towel or a tissue. Step 3: Look on the tissue and comb for lice and eggs. Step 4: Repeat the combing for every part of the head at least 4 or 5 times. Step 5: if the person has been treated recently and only hatched eggs are found, you may not have to treat them again since the eggs could be from the old infestation. Step 6: If lice or eggs are found the person should be treated.

Things to Remember *Head lice have been around for thousands of years and anyone can get them. *Using conditioner and a very fine tooth comb method once a week will help your family control head lice.

*Head lice do not carry disease.
