Lauren Mills AS Media evaluation Question 2- How does your media product represent particular social groups? My title sequence represents the stereotypical and generalised view of a Femme Fatale. The immediate stereotype for this sort of character would be that she is Mysterious Seductive Manipulative Untruthful Deceitful Charming Alluring No morals Sex appeal Mainly, the typical symbolisation in which was created was that she is Provocative. The representation in which we tried to create for the femme fatale hinders off of a traditional woman. She refuses to play to role of a house wife/loving mother that mainstreams the typical society outlook of women. She also finds marriage to be loveless, dull and confining and uses all of her cunning and sexual attractiveness which is highly reflected through the costume of the character. What were you trying to create with your femme fatale and who was your inspiration? The shots of the femme fatale, in our title sequence instantly enables the audience to get a clear understanding from a generalised idea of what she is and what characteristics she withholds. However, contrasting to this they will only not be able to have a broad idea of the other characters in the film as they haven’t fully been introduced besides clues throughout the opening sequence. The only difference with the characters through our opening sequence and other film noir opening sequences is there overall look. Characters such as Marlene Dietrich is German and portrays that within her characters appearance being severe and arguably masculine. Our femme fatale Eda, is Cypriot and portrays a strong minded person with hints of innocence. Also, where Dietrich has a manly build, Eda has curves which are prominent in her tight fitting costume.
