What began with a simple fireplace tool set hasestablished itself as the brand of unique productsfor creating comfortable living spaces aroundthe fireplace. Starting from traditional designs, we havediscovered, together with our designers, free-dom to create new compositions, which focuson the element of fire. All appeal emanates fromthe fireplace – its warmth procures space. Theinterior is particularly clear-cut and unostenta-tious, and is made of leather, pure wool, solidwood or steel. The primitiveness of these robustmaterials stylishly supports the elementary forceof fire. The furniture’s purist lines create anatmosphere that appears rich in contrast yet isappealingly cosy. This is emphasised by lovinglyarranged cushions as well as by the exquisiteobjects made of fine porcelain.

BALANCE – das ist mehr als ein Kamin, es istein innenarchitektonisches Konzept. Die beidenBrennkammern für Holz oder aber für Alkoholohne Schornsteinanschluss können mit denSeitenelementen in unterschiedlichen Materia-lien, Funktionen und Breiten gewählt und zueiner horizontalen Linie an der Wand befestigtwerden, es gibt aber auch eine auf Edelstahl-Füßen ruhende Lösung. Alle Module sind somitkompatibel und ermöglichen unzählige indivi-duelle Gestaltungsmöglichkeiten.

BALANCE – is more than just a fireplace; it is aninterior design concept. The two combustionchambers, wood-fuelled or alcohol-fuelled withno chimney connection, can be chosen alongwith the side elements in a variety of materials,functions and widths, and can be joined in ahorizontal line along the wall. There is also asolution resting on stainless steel feet. In thisway, all of the modules are compatible andallow for any number of individual design possi-bilities.

Dergemütliche Anblick des Feuers ist jetzt von allendenkbaren Richtungen zu genießen. So legt dieKaminplanung die Wohnlandschaft nicht längerfest und bietet dem Wandel die gewünschteFreiheit. Formal kommuniziert der horizontalplatzierte Feuerraum die Leichtigkeit des freischwebenden Feuers. Das Bedürfnis nachWärme bekommt einen zentralen Platz. TURNist jederzeit zugewandt.Der Kamin ist freistehend geprüft. Zur Siche-rung wird er durch die Vorbohrungen in derBodenplatte auf dem Fußboden festge-schraubt. Anderenfalls sorgt ein zusätzlichesKontergewicht im integrierten Stauraumelementfür den Gewichtsausgleich und Standfestigkeit.Die Brennraumtür ist nach rechts zu öffnen,während die Luftzufuhr über einen praktischenEinhandregler unter der Brennkammer erfolgt.TURN kommt ohne Feuerraum-Rost undAschekasten aus dank des optimal geregeltenVerbrennungsvorgangs.

TURN is the answer for open living. This fire-place can be rotated round 360 degrees andcan also be locked in position at set increments.The cosy view of the fire can now be enjoyedfrom every conceivable angle. This means thatfireplace planning is no longer tied to the livingroom environment and offers the desired scopefor change. In its form, the horizontally locatedfireplace communicates the lightness of thefree-floating fire. The requirement for heat takescentre stage. TURN is always involved.The fireplace has been tested as a free-standinginstallation. For extra security, it is screweddown onto the floor through the holes pre-drilledin the base plate. Alternatively, an additionalcounterweight accommodated in the integratedstorage element ensures that its own weight isbalanced and stable. The combustion chamberdoor is right-opening, while the air supply ischannelled through a practical regulator offeringone-hand operation from below the combustionchamber. TURN manages without any grateor ash pan, thanks to its optimally regulatedcombustion process.

„Mit dem Entwurf eines Kaminbestecks habe ichmich spontan beschäftigt, als 1997 JohannesWagner anfragte, ob das ein Thema für michwäre. Das war es zweifellos, denn für meinenprivaten Kamin hatte ich bis dato nichts ge-funden, das meinen Vorstellungen entsprach. Sobehalf ich mir bis dahin mit einem simplenschmiedeeisernen Schürhaken. Es fehlte mir vorallem eine gut funktionierende Holzzange, die zu-packen konnte, und die wurde dann auch zumzentralen Ausgangspunkt des neuen Entwurfes.“2000 wurde die Serie erweitert: „Ein Blasebalgentstand aus der Notwendigkeit heraus, dass esso etwas nur in reichlich antikisierenden Formengab. Ebenfalls entstanden Kaminböcke in ver-schiedenen Abmessungen, um das Feuer besser„bauen“ zu können. Damit ist die Serie vervoll-ständigt – ein funktional gestalteter Werkzeugsatzfür leidenschaftliche Pyromanen.“

“I started to think about designing a fireplace toolset spontaneously back in 1997 when JohannesWagner enquired whether this was something Imight be interested in. I certainly was, for up untilthen I had been unable to find anything thatapproached what I had in mind for my own fire-place. Hitherto I had made do with a simplewrought iron poker. What I lacked most of all weregood functional wood tongs to grasp the woodwith, and this then also became the centralstarting point of the new design.” In the year 2000the series was expanded: “Bellows arose from thenecessity that articles of this type were onlyavailable in really antique designs. Andirons invarious dimensions were also created so as to beable to “build” the fire better. This completed theseries – a functionally designed set of tools forpassionate pyromaniacs.”

Neben der Zangeentstanden die klassischen KomponentenSchürhaken und Schaufel, die in einen Edel-stahlständer oder in eine Wandbefestigungeingehängt werden können.”Gleichzeitig wurde die Holzlege konzipiert, mitformal analoger Gestaltung und den typischenLedergriffen.

Das von Peter Maly entworfene Kaminbesteckerhielt zahlreiche Auszeichnungen.

“Right from the outset, I felt that a combination ofmatt stainless steel and natural leather was animportant factor – which is why milled full grainleather bands were selected as the hilt wrapping.On the one hand as a heat shield for your handwith a good grip and nice to the touch, on theother however, principally because of the materialaesthetics of the natural leather. In addition to thetongs, classic components such as pokers andshovel were created which can be mounted in astainless steel stand or wall holder.”The log holder was designed at the same time,similar in shape and with the typical leatherhandles.
