aCtiVity inforMationCOuRSE DESCRIPTION

The Cedars-Sinai 24th International Symposium on Pancreatic and Biliary Endoscopy will be held in cooperation with three major endoscopy centers in North America, Europe and Asia. This unique course offers an intensive and comprehensive review of pancreatic and biliary endoscopy for gastroenterologists, gastroenterology fellows and gastroenterology nurses. Symposium planners have invited expert faculty to perform multiple live EUS and ERCP procedures to demonstrate technique and technology for the benefit of participants watching the live feed in the Cedars-Sinai auditorium. Participants will be provided with a list of the various cases, and are encouraged to ask questions through the session moderator about what they are viewing.

To reinforce skills, attendees may participate in hands-on workshops designed for GI fellows and GI nurses, and are also encouraged to attend the new “video forum” portion of the program that will feature short video clips of various clinical scenarios, followed by a Q&A session. Also new to this year’s symposium is a special radiation safety course that will provide attendees with four credit hours needed for renewal of California Fluoroscopy Supervisor’s licenses. In addition to the live-procedure video feeds, symposium faculty will present the latest and most relevant information on pancreatic and biliary endoscopy using a variety of traditional formats, including lectures, panel discussions, case review and Q&A. Balanced viewpoints, special techniques and practical clinical approaches will be highlighted throughout the program.

This year’s special symposium features: • Eleven hours of ERCP procedure demonstrations, telecast live from Cedars-Sinai

• Radiation safety course that satisfies new California requirements for earning four CME credits every two years to support the safe and effective clinical uses of fluoroscopy

• More than 20 clinically coherent and carefully chosen didactic topics

• Current literature review, including significant findings pertaining to ERCP and EUS

• Ample time for questions and discussion with colleagues and faculty throughout the program

• Case conference to apply technical skill to challenging clinical scenarios

• Concurrent GI fellows program (practicing gastroenterologists are invited to attend, space permitting)

• Bonus session for GI fellows and nurses

• New video forum

• Optional non-pancreaticobiliary endoscopy demonstration on Thursday afternoon

Our renowned international faculty will bring unique knowledge and excitement to share with you!

TARGET AuDIENCE

This educational activity will provide an intensive and comprehensive review of pancreatic and biliary endoscopy for gastroenterologists, gastroenterology fellows and gastroenterology nurses, with specific workshops offered for each segment of the target audience.

EDuCATIONAl OBJECTIvES

• Evaluate the most recent information in diagnosing and managing patients with pancreaticobiliary diseases

• Watch live video feeds of ERCP and EUS procedures demonstrated by experts in the field as they perform and guide viewers through multiple patient cases

• Apply the latest research and strategies to establish evidence-based treatment for patients with pancreatitis and pancreatic cancer

• Review advances in clinical research and discuss the implications for clinicians involved in managing patients with pancreatic and biliary disease

• Describe recommendations and methods for improving endoscopy efficiencies that do not compromise patient safety or quality of care

• Enhance knowledge of the pathophysiology, diagnosis and management of digestive diseases for which endoscopic procedures are indicated, and evaluate techniques and technologies utilized in the field

• Explore training, research and career opportunities for interventional fellows with colleagues and expert faculty

• Discuss current and emerging diagnostic and therapeutic techniques in GI endoscopy and their application in GI nursing

• Apply recommended methods for reprocessing ERCP and EUS scopes to prevent infection outbreaks and ensure patient safety
