KUSO President's Visit to CICTThe Central Institute of Classical Tamil at Chennai, a Central Govt. Organisation under

the Ministry of Human Resource Development, had invited applications few months back for translating the Thirukkural from Tamil into ten other languages. In this list our language Sourashtram was not found. I had written to them requesting them to include our language also and they had replied that they would consider and let me know. As there was no reply even after reminding, I had asked for an appointment with the Registrar of CICT on 17th November 2016.

Accordingly, Sri K.R.Ravindranath, (Member, Sourashtra Madhya Sabha Linguistic Minority Committee) and I visited CICT and met the Registrar, Prof. (Muhilai) Raja Pandian. We explained the antiquity and greatness of our language and showed him the Thirukkural in our language by Sri Sanguram. We also explained our history with the support of Sri K.R. Sethuraman's 'Tamizh Naattil Sourashtirar Varalaaru'.

The Registrar was very helpful and was already aware of our community. He assured us that he would take action to include our Sourashtra language for such translation projects (many are in the offing).

He enquired about the authors, scholars qualified in our Sourashtra language. We told him that our scholars have leant informally and now formal Certificate and Diploma courses are being conducted by the Sauraashi Academy, Dindigul.

In short it was a very fruitful positive meeting and it is expected that we will get some benefits soon. Our Sourashtra Madhya Sabha, Sourashtra Educationists Confederation and institutions like Shreshta Sourashtra Sahitya Sabha, Sourashtra Vidya Peetam, schoools and colleges should immediately initiate action to start classes for teaching our language (outside the regular school hours), for which a resolution proposed by KUSO was passed in the recent E.C. meeting of the Sourashtra Madhya Sabha at Puducherry on 2nd October 2016.

SOURASHTRA FILM FAIR 2016The inauguration of Sourashtra Film Fair 2016 for sourashtra language telefilms and

short films for two days was held on Saturday, 26.11.2016 at 10.30 am. Sri A.R. Balaji, President, Madurai Sourashtra Sabhai, presided over the function. Film Fair Organizer Sri O.V.R.M. Rajkumar welcomed the gathering and organized the events on the stage.

Sri S.R. Anantharaman, Correspondent, IIPE Lakshmiraman Matric High School, Palayamkottai who inaugurated the Trade Exhibitions earlier, was available on the stage along with R.B.R. Ramasubramanian, General Secretary, Sourashtra Madhya Sabhai, Sri A.R. Jegannath, Correspondent, Sourashtra Boys Hr. Secondary School, Sri M.S. Ramalingam, Tanjore (former State Vice President, BJP), Sri B.K. Ramalingam, Committee Member, Film Censor Board, Smt. A.R. Mahalakshmi, President, BJP State Women Wing and Sri Anantharaman of Sri Venkataramana Bhagavathar Jayanthi Vizha Committee, Ayyampettai.

Sri S.K.R. Ramesh, President, Sourashtra Chamber of Commerce, Sri E.R. Kumaresh, Director, Sou. Girls Hr. Secondary School were also present.

Various small auditoriums were arranged to screen films in a planned manner very well to entertain the sourashtra audience. Separate counters were also opened to exhibit the products of our community people together with eateries to entertain the visitors.

These events were well planned and organized by Sri K.R. Gopinath, Sri V.V. Suresh and Sri O.V.R.M. Rajkumar.

SMARANANJALIA meeting to pay ‘smarananjali’ to Swargiya Sri Srihari L. Khoday (Chairman & Managing

Director of Khoday Group of Industries) was held on Sunday, 20.11.2016 from 10AM onwards at Jnana Jyothi Auditorium, Opp: Bangalore Medical College Hostel, Bangalore University Campus, Palace Road, Bangalore-1. A well garlanded big size live image of late Srihari L. Khoday was exhibited on a side of the stage. A large number of VIPs from Kshathriya community appeared on the stage and briefly recollected their association with late Srihari Khoday. Later, the organizers screened a documentary film on the stage which runs about 90 minutes. It depicted the whole life of Srihari Khoday from his childhood. It was a worthy presentation, the audience appreciated.

Srihari L. Khoday's sons were seemed to have moved very much on the expressions made on the stage by Sourashtra Samajam Representatives. The condolence meeting came to end with lunch to the visitors.

The 2nd Edition of 'Vainava Marabum Meiporuliyalum' was released in a function held on Wednesday, 02.11.2016 by Sourashtra Samuga Nala Sangam, Emaneswaram.

Sri M.P. Rajan, President, Sourashtra Samuga Nala Sangam, presided over the meeting. Sri M.G. Sasikumar, M.B.A., welcomed t h e g a t h e r i n g i n t h e p r e s e n c e o f Sri V.G. Ramakrishnan, Sri K.G. Seshayyan and Sri V.N. Haridoss, all Former Presidents, Sourashtra Sabhai, Emaneswaram and Sri L.K. Kubendran, Sr. Manager, Union Bank of India, Emaneswaram Branch. Issue of Awards for 2016 to the Sourashtra Achievers in various fields were held on Saturday, 19.11.2016 at Muthamizh Peravai (T.S. Rajarathinam Auditorium), O p p : M G R J a n a k i C o l l e g e , R a j a Annamalaipuram, Chennai-28 with the participation of a large no. of audience from

Sourashtra community and VIPs and Representatives of various sourashtra organizations as a day-long function with lunch and gift items provided to the visitors.

KUSO Team, viz., Sri K.V. Pathy, President, Sri T.S. Jayabalan, General Secretary, Sri T.A. Pattabiraman-Secretary, Sri R.R. Basker, Joint-Treasurer, Sri R.N. Sadasivan, Editor, SONNA KODUM, Committee Members Sri N.R. Viswanathan, Sri P.M. Balaji and Sri S.K. Varadharajan were present in the auditorium.

In the first session, Sri S.N. Thyagarajan, President, Sourashtra Cultural Academy, took the stage management and handed over through VIPs on the stage, the Sourashtra Cultural Academy Awards 2016 to achievers under various categories.

The session for Distribution of BVK Awards 2016 commenced by 5.30 pm as scheduled with the participation of Smt. & Sri Bala V. Kutti, Chairman, BVK Foundation & BVK Group of Companies, Sri T.D. Eswaramoorthy, President, Sourashtra Madhya Sabha, Sri R.B.R. Ramasubramanian, General Secretary, Sourashtra Madhya Sabha along with some other VIPs in the community. Upon arrival of the Chief Guest, Sri R. Bhagyaraj, the popular film director and actor, colorful events took place on the stage. Sri Bhagyaraj was introduced to Sri Eswaramoorthy and other VIPs. Sri Bhagyaraj handed over the BVK Awards and Plaques to a few Achievers on the stage along with BVK Group Team. Cultural programs were also held.

KUSO Team feels very happy in joining the above events and it expects such events must take place in all other big cities and towns where Sourashtra people live in large no. to encourage such achievers of those regions. The Big Wicks of those Regions must come forward to encourage like Sri K.V. Bala of BVK Foundation to find out and encourage such talented people.
