EDA Dairy Policy Conference 2017 Dairy - Jobs, Growth and Investment in the Common market
Yesterday, the EDA Dairy Policy Conference 2017 brought
about 200 representatives of the European dairy industry
together, in Brussels. 60 years after the Treaty of Rome was
signed on 25 March 1957, this edition of the EDA Dairy Policy
Conference puts the EU Single Market in the centre of the
debate, and highlighted how and to what extent dairy
contributes to the core missions of the EU Commission: Jobs,
Growth and Investment.
EDA Chair Michel Nalet (photo on the right) opened the Conference:
“Let’s put the Single Market in the centre of the debate of the 60 years of
the Treaty of Rome”.
The first session offered a high-level perspective on where the Single
Market stands today and on the complexity of the different food supply
chains and the ways to improve its functioning in Europe, for the benefit
of the citizens and for the food sector.

further re-nationalisations of the CAP which
influence the competitivity of the dairy industry
within the Single Market.

Market, at a time when Brexit can be considered as
a big challenge.
MEP Dan Dalton (ECR, UK): “Non-tariff barriers are
the main challenge in the Single Market, driven by anti
-EU feelings.”
