Staffing Update
Year 6:
We say THANK-YOU to Mr. Cole and Mr. Westecott for stepping in and teaching our Year 6 class this term. Both Mr. Cole and Mr. Westecott are regular Relief Teachers for our School and their willingness to look after the Year 6 students was very much appreciated. We say thank-you but not farewell, as we will continue to see these gentlemen around on various classes in the future as needed.
We look forward though to welcoming Ms. Gemma Jorin to the class at the beginning of next term. Ms. Jorin is looking forward to joining our school community and has already been in communication with the school in regards to curriculum and planning.
Year 2/3:
We also say a big THANK-YOU to Mrs. Anna Lahey for her hard work and care of the students in Year 2/3 during this first half of the year. Mrs. Lahey leaves us to go on Maternity Leave and we wish her and her family good health and all the best for their future plans. We have enjoyed having Mrs. Lahey as part of our team.
We look forward also to Mrs. Seymour coming back to being on our teaching team and welcome Mrs. Seymour back on class. Mrs. Seymour has been on extended leave caring for her young family. Teaching arrangements will be similar to Semester 1. Mrs. Thornton will be teaching Monday—Wednesday and Mrs. Seymour will be teaching Thursday and Friday
Master Teacher:
It is with sadness that I must announce that due to health issues Mrs. Angela Burgess is no longer able to continue in her role as Master Teacher at Esk and Toogoolawah State Schools. We thank Mrs. Burgess for her work with staff and students alike. She will be greatly missed and we wish her good health and best wishes in the future.
Mr. Crichton (Principal of Esk SS) and I have already begun the Merit Selection Process seeking a new Master Teacher for our schools.
Year 6 will be participating in a Cluster Gala Sports Day at the High School this Friday 24 June.
We are very grateful to Somerset Council as they have agreed to fund bus travel for all students attending the
day—so this year our student can travel in style. Students will be leaving @ 10.20am and returning in time for
usual pick up arrangements.

SCHOOL OPINION SURVEY
When we return from our Winter Vacation period it will be time for everyone to again have the opportunity to participate in the annual School Opinion Survey.
This year all surveys will again be on-line. If you do not have access to the internet to complete the survey and you would like to be involved, please do not hesitate to speak with me as we can work through available options.
Following is information about the School Opinion Survey taken from the Education Queensland Frequently Asked Questions.
What is the School Opinion Survey?
The suite of School Opinion Surveys are undertaken each year by the Department of Education and Training to obtain opinion information from parents/caregivers, students and school staff. The surveys are designed to help schools identify what they do well and how they can improve. The School Opinion Survey suite is comprised of five individual surveys:
Parent/Caregiver Survey
Student Survey
Student Survey for Special Schools
Staff Survey
Principal Survey.
Is it compulsory to complete the survey?
Participation in the annual School Opinion Survey is voluntary. Respondents are strongly encouraged to provide their opinions, as the greater the response rate from survey participants, the more closely the survey results will be representative of the overall opinions held at each school.
How will individual responses make a difference?
Survey results will be used to assess and investigate on how well schools are going, and to identify areas for future development. If you are a parent/caregiver of a child at a school, your responses can be used by the school to provide a better learning environment for your child. If you are a staff member at a school, your responses can be used by your school to make it a better workplace.
Who will see the survey responses?
The login and password combination for the online versions of the survey and barcodes on paper forms are unique but are not linked to individuals. The login and passwords for online surveys, are used to ensure that forms are distributed to the correct school and to allow for school level analyses of the information collected.
All survey responses are treated confidentially and stored securely by the department in accordance with the
Information Privacy Act 2009 (Qld) . Access to individual responses is restricted to a small number of central office staff. Schools will only receive aggregated reports where sufficient responses are received to guarantee the confidentiality of individual responses.
The Survey opens July 11 2016—First day back. Letters of invitation and access codes will be sent home on Monday July 11.

Caleb Westecott Caleb maintains the classroom and school rules at all times. He applies the High Five and You Can Do It! weekly learning focus both in the classroom and playground.
Caleb consistently cooperates with others during whole group and small group activities. He shows respect and consideration for others thoughts and actions when learning. He is keen to take on responsibility and assist others.
Caleb always has the required equipment ready to learn and maintains a tidy work area. He always demonstrates the ability to stay on task, organise and complete an activity within a given time frame.
Caleb's bookwork is consistently neat and organised. His homework is always complete and on time. Caleb’s goal is to accept change and have a go at new things which he demonstrated on athletics day when he stepped out of his comfort zone and did his best to enjoy himself and support his fellow team mates.
Caleb participated in all events and activities he was asked to do on Athletics day with a smile and to the best of his ability. Caleb is a charming, friendly and helpful member of the class who can be relied upon to carry out any task conscientiously.
