Rajat Kapoor’s 'Ankhon Dekhi' To OpenMosaic International South Asian FilmFestivalBY ANOKHI ADMIN

The 8th Annual Mosaic International South Asian Film FestivalMISAFF) will kick off tonight with actor/director Rajat Kapoor's

'Ankhon Dekhi'. 

The four day film festival which takes place Aug 7 - 10 will be host to celebrities, filmmakers

and film enthusiasts. MISAFF 2014 features world and Canadian premieres of films that are in

Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi, Pushto, Marathi, Gujarati, Bengali, Tamil, Kashmiri and Sindhi with

debuts from both international and Canadian filmmakers..

Celebrities such as Raymond Ablack known for his role in Degrassi: The Next Generation heads

up the star sighting at MISAFF 2014. Canadian celebrity Vinay Virmani, whose talents were

shown in films such as Breakaway, and Bollywood film David will also be present to as a

celebrity guest at MISAFF to chat about his role in the soon to be released Dr. Cabbie. 

Mosaic Director, Asma Mahmood states that “We are absolutely thrilled to present another

year of incredible South Asian culture and talent. South Asian music, dance, and cinema is full

of beauty and life; we know everyone will be blown away with what will be delivered during

Mosaic 2014.” 

Anima State by Hammad Khan, a critically acclaimed Pakistani film about a masked gunman

that embarks on a killing rampage in present-day Pakistan will make its Canadian debut

before the world premiere of Dho Dala (The Sin Washers), Iram Parveen Bilal’s short film

about launderettes that wash away the “sins” and the evidence of crimes committed until a

spy convinces them to seek justice.

VARA directed by Khyentse Norbu starring Shahana Goswami of Rock On fame, will be

premiered along with the comedy Sulemani Keeda, and Gangs of Tooting Broadway.

Samaritan and Meet the Patels directed by Ravi Patel; famed for his roles in It's Always Sunny In

Philadelphia, Transformers, and Scrubs. Nous avions, the award-winning film by Stéphane

Moukarzel based on a Pakistani family that are conflicted with retaining their identity while

living in Montreal will also be showcased. 

Director Ali Kazmi's film Continuous Journey is also part of the stellar lineup, to be screened to

commemorate the 100 year anniversary of the Komagata Maru incident.
