COURSE RULES
I want to make the environment in this class one that you can speak freely and often.
We will do many things that can be fun, interesting and some not so interesting, but necessary.
This is called an “open style” classroom.
COURSE RULES
In order to have a successful open class style, some rules must be followed.
Speaking Rules
- Do not talk to each other while I am giving the lesson.
-Do not talk when another student or your teacher is talking.
-This means: respect each other and respect the teacher, too.
Speaking Rules
- Speak in ENGLISH, unless you ask permission first to speak in Arabic.
-Speak often, but when appropriate. Examples:
During group or pair work
Asking the teacher questions
You need to raise your hand!
Home Work Rules
-Homework is not always collected, but will be checked.
-Homework is due on the day I tell you. If it is late . . .
You will lose points on the assignment
It will be written on your PDA form
Attendance and Lateness
Remember: being on time to class also means being prepared for class.
Lateness Policy
Class begins at the time written on your timetable.
If you come anytime after that then you are late. It is as simple as that!
Lateness Policy
You must bring your books, materials and homework to class.
If you come to me at the start of class and ask to go get your binder, books, homework, disk or anything else then one of two things will happen.
Lateness Policy
You will be allowed to go and will be
marked "late"
Or ...
You will not be allowed to go and you will be marked "unprepared for class".
Writing
The papers must be STAPLED, not in plastic covers or paper clipped!
Each writing must include four things, or it will not be accepted.
If you don't have all four on that day and do them later, the assignment will be marked "late".
Writing
The four things each paper must have are . . .
1. A plan
2. A first draft
4. A final draft with corrections made
3. The writing checklist
Writing Paper Marking Key
When I mark your papers, I will not correct them for you, but I will tell you where you have made a mistake.
I will use abbreviations.
Time is Short
We have many things to do in a short time!
