Review
The CDRs generated by a switch are temporarily buffered in its RAM that is generally known as the CDR pool. These CDRs must be saved into physical media for CDR pool’s capacity limit and volatile property.
What’s more, CDRs generated by the switch calls (generally called the “Original CDRs”) can not meet the requirements of the Billing System in terms of contents or format, thus, they have to be pre-processed by the Charging Gateway (iGWB)

Know software structure of iGWB
Know the Billing System interface specification supported by iGWB
Know the parameter configuration for iGWB
Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:

System Application
iGWB is Huawei standard charging gateway equipment, which locates between the switch and the Billing System and is in charge of CDR receiving, pre-processing and buffering.

iGWB Server: receive cdr from MSOFTX3000 with TCP/IP protocol
Billing system: communicate with iGWB ,using FTPFile Transfer Protocol or FTAMFile TransferAccess & Management
If using FTPiGWB works as server ,billing system works as client
If using FTAMiGWB works as Responderbilling system works as initiator

Hardware configuration
iGWB server: the IGWB Server communicates with MSOFTX3000 to accomplish such operations as bill storage, format conversion and preprocessing.
Integrated shifter: The Keyboard/Video/Mouse (KVM) shifter is used to implement switchover control of input/output devices. The integrated shifter includes the input/output devices like Liquid Crystal Display (LCD), keyboard, and mouse
LANSwitch:The LAN Switch is the communication channel between the iGWB and MSOFTX3000.
HUAWEI TECHNOLOGIES CO., LTD.
The iGWB Server provides four network adapters to communicate externally.
Local Area Connection Connected to the NMS and the bill console.
Local Area Connection 2 Connected to LAN Switch0, communicating with the active plane of host.
Local Area Connection 3 Connected to LAN Switch1, communicating with the standby plane of host , and functioning as the first heartbeat path between the active and standby iGWBs.
Local Area Connection 4 Connected to the billing center, providing billing interface.
Communicating with host
Heartbeat path
The system provides two heartbeat paths, the first of which passes through Local Area Network (LAN, also called private network in the system) composed by network adapters 2;
the second passes through serial port.

iGWB software structure
For the communication among processes, the most mature Client/Server mode is adopted, which takes one process as the center, and the rest of the processes as sub-processes
realizing the function that one process schedules and monitors other service sub-processes.

Dual-system process
Kernel process:
the core of the whole software, is the TCP/IP Server for the other three processes. It is also responsible for starting, stopping and monitoring the “access point process” and “operation & maintenance process”.
Access point process
”Access point process” integrates the major service functions of the iGWB, including bill receiving, bill processing and bill storing.
HUAWEI TECHNOLOGIES CO., LTD.
Bill service processing process
These service functions, based on modules, are divided into “network module”, “front saving module”, “bill processing module” and “back saving module”.

Each final CDR file can be save in one or two shares. If saved in two shares, the first share has different directory structure with the second share.
HUAWEI TECHNOLOGIES CO., LTD.
The trace files are in the directory “igwb/trace/”
If any abnormality or fault occurs to the system, these pieces of Trace information will help us locate faults. Please note that trace information records the fault information and some important running information during the system running, but it is not necessarily the system fault or abnormality. The system will also output Trace information in normal cases.

Please check whether the file igwb/config/ini/igwb.ini in this directory is available.
The available space for front save is less than the minimum alarm space !
Open the file “igwb/config/igwb.ini” and change the parameter, or delete some CDR files.
HUAWEI TECHNOLOGIES CO., LTD.
Browsing the alarm via the alarm console
Reference to the relevant handing suggestions
Pay attention to the warn level and handle the fault in time
HUAWEI TECHNOLOGIES CO., LTD.
Heartbeat interrupted
Handling suggestion:
Base on the alarm parameters, check whether the hardware of the network interfaces or serial ports used for heartbeat between the dual servers is properly connected. Besides, check whether the IP address is correctly set
Alarm name
Warn level
Alarm type
Fault alarm
This alarm will be generated when all the private networks used for dual-server heartbeat are interrupted
