    Command Duty Officer (CDO)

    The Command Duty Officer in port is that

    officer or authorized Petty Officer

    designated by the Commanding Officer tocarry out the routine of the unit in port and

    to supervise the Officer of the Deck in the

    safety and general duties of the unit. In thetemporary absence of the Executive Officer,

    the duties of the Executive Officer will be

    carried out by the Command Duty Officer.

    for 24 hour periodset the tone for the performance of the duty

    The Officer of the Deck in port is that officer or

    petty officer on watch designated by the

    Commanding Officer to be in charge of the unit.He/she is primarily responsible for the safety and

    proper operation of the unit.

    The Commanding Officer of a ship shall establish the

    limits of the quarterdeck and the restrictions of its use. The

    quarterdeck shall embrace so much of the main or other

    appropriate deck as may be necessary for the properconduct of official ceremonial functions.
