    The following are the basic Demand planning configuration steps:

    1. Master Planning Object Structure

    2. Storage uc!et profile". Time buc!et profile#. Planning area$. Planning boo!s and data %iew&. 'orecast profile

    All that above steps should be configured in sequence.

    (n this document) ( will present the re*uired configuration steps indetail and also their rele%anc+ with demand planning

    There are three types of master data in DP:

    Planning master data: BOMs, Routings, Material Masters, and

    Resources, that are required to generate supply plans. This data usesthe !" to populate #$P $PO.

    B% Master Data: Data required for reporting that relates toharacteristics, such as Te&t, $ttri'utes and (ierarchies. This data uses

    B% e&tractors to populate ta'les in #$P $PO.

    "orecasting Master Data: Master data specifically for Demand Planning,

    called haracteristic )alue com'inations. This data is created in #$P $PODemand Planning and stored in the Planning O'*ect #tructure.

    !n regards to Transactional Data, #$P $PO +ill essentially store three

    types:

    OTP: urrent planning data from your R- system such as #ales

    Orders, #toc/, Production-Purchase Orders. This data uses the !" to

    populate #$P $PO.

    B%: (istorical transactional data on #ales orders,

    Production-Purchasing orders for forecasting or $nalysis. This data uses

    B% e&tractors to populate !nfou'es in #$P $PO.

    efore configuring the abo%e said re*uirements) it is important todetermine what the characteristics are and !e+ figures are.

    ,et us ta!e an e-ample of onda /ompan+. The car b+ itself is a'inished Productand then the nature of the car 0Product Category

    li!e Sedan or an S3 and again it is further di%ided into standardlu-ur+ Sedan or a limited edition 0Product Hierarchy one and so on.

    So if we loo! into the abo%e e-ample) Product) Product categor+)product hierarch+ all form the /haracteristics.

    The 4umber of cars to be produced and the number of parts re*uiredto produce a car all form the !e+ figures 05-ample 100 cars to beproduced in onda plant 6) the 177 forms the !e+ figure

    /haracteristics and 8e+ figures are usuall+ defined in 6PO 9

    All characteristics are selected in Planning Obect structureand All !ey figures are selected in Planning area of APO DP

    The Table1 field represents a name for this Data 3iew table.

    4. 5orecast Profile

    (n order to do the Demand planning we need to forecast. 'or thatforecasting we need to assign some algorithmsGformulas to a profile.This assignment is done in the forecasting profile. This forecastingprofile is assigned to the planning area.

    To create a forecasting profile) go to S6P menu; 6d%anced Planningand Optimi

    Once in) select the Planning 6rea and enter a name for the forecastingprofile.

    The forecast figure !e+ represents the !e+ figure to which the
