Professor Basham, as President of the International Conference on Traditional Asian Medicine, wishes to record his thanks and those of the ICTAM Organizing Connnittee to Faculty and to the Department for their valuable contributions both to the funds and to the general organization and running of the Conference. The Conference was held from 2 to 7 September 1979 and was attended by nearly 300 delegates from Australiaa:id overseas, and led to the establishment of an International Association for the Study of Traditional Asian Medicine (IASTA.M), of which Professor Basham was elected President. Other members of staff involved in the running of the Conference were Miss Hutchinsons whose handling of the delegates' accommodation and associated problems was faultless. Mrs Holyoake was Conference Secretary and is to be an Associate Secretary of L\STAM. The Departmenta1 Sec!'etarJ.es, Mrs Williams and Mrs Mccusker provided valuable clerical assistance throughout. Thanks are also due to Hrs Zonneveldt for her cheerful cooperation under great stress during the week of the Conference.
