This session will overview the 21st Century themes and learning skills. Learning and innovation skills increasingly are being recognized as the skills that separate students who are prepared for complex life and work environments in the 21st century, and those who are not. A focus on creativity, critical thinking, communication and collaboration is essential to prepare students for their future. Lesson ideas for helping students acquire these necessary skills, as well as facilitated idea sharing regarding implementation of 21st Century skills will be part of this session.

“This is a story about the big public conversation the nation is not having about education… whether an entire

generation of kids will fail to make the grade in the global economy because

they can’t think their way through abstract problems, work in teams,

distinguish good information from bad, or speak a language other than English.”

relationships, it is not possible to learn and

to continue to learn as much as you need to

know to improve.

Thoughts to take you into a break…

We learn best by doing… our deepest insights and understandings come from action, followed by reflection and the search for improvement… the journey may not be an easy one, but it is certainly one worth taking.
