TASK 4 – What is VET? Vocational Education and Training (VET) focuses on providing skills for work. It covers a large number of careers and industries like trades and office work, retail, hospitality and technology. TASK 5 – What is University? University focuses on primarily offer higher education qualifications at undergraduate and postgraduate levels to prepare graduates for professional careers. This includes bachelor degrees, postgraduate certificates, postgraduate diplomas, masters degrees and doctoral degrees. University entry requirements at undergraduate level (not already graduated from a university course) usually revolve around academic achievement and completion of subject prerequisites in the Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE), supplemented by interviews, auditions, portfolios and tests for certain fields. Requirements for postgraduate study involve a combination of previous academic study and work experience. WESTERN AUSTRALIAN UNIVERSITIES There are five major universities in Western Australia. Four public universities and one private. Websites:
