President’s Message Important Notice: We will be voting on several items in our next meeting on Feb 5 th at 9am. In place of the Boutique that didn’t happen in 2020, we have been trying to have a raffle to raise money for some of the charities that we donate to. We will be voting on whether to have a 50/50 raffle. We also need to vote on whether we start planning the Boutique for 2021. And we need to discuss what we want to do about the 1 st and 2 nd Vice President positions and will most likely have a vote on that also. At the last meeting, for our speaker we had Betsy Hayes, Director of Resource Development at Mt. Evans Home Health Care and Hospice. Mt. Evans provides home health care to residents in mountain communities of four counties: Park, Gilpin, Jefferson, and Clear Creek. Please note: Care is provided regardless of ability to pay. Mt. Evans is celebrating 40 years of service with a virtual gala- Birthday in a Box Celebration and Fundraiser. Contact Mt. Evans, at mtevans.org, to join the celebration. Donations are appreciated. We do not have a speaker lined up for our February meeting but I think we have enough to discuss amongst ourselves. If you have a suggestion for a speaker for March, please let me know. CN&N helped out with the Christmas window display at the Little White School house - and they won 2 nd place for a business. I hope you had a chance to get out and see the decorations. I look forward to seeing you all in person again in the not too distant future. CNN MEMBER SPOTLIGHT: the most fascinating people!
The CNN membership is a wonderful representation of the world! They are an intriguing cross section of men and women from different states and countries with diverse educations and histories. The people in this organization are humbling and stunning with regard to their experiences and accomplishments. With that in mind, CNN will be focusing a spotlight on our members to share their stories and hope that you enjoy "meeting" the most fascinating people. Here's how it will work. First and foremost, the CNN MEMBERSHIP SPOTLIGHT will only be sent to the membership via email. It will not be placed into the public newsletter. Carrie Brewer will put together the information and Kathy Dierks will do the email blast to the membership. Meets the 1st Saturday of the month @ 6:30 p.m. Wine tasting meets the first Saturday of the month between 5:30 and 6:30. Attendees are asked to bring a side dish, appetizer or a dessert to share. Cost is $15.00 per person. You do not have to drink wine to enjoy socializing with fellow CN&N members – non-alcoholic beverages are also provided. Wine Tastings will be by Zoo until further notice. We will resume in-person wine tasting parties when warm weather returns or a vaccine for Covid-19 is widely available. Meets every Wednesday There are no scheduled hikes or snowshoeing from mid-September thru most of April. Occasionally the weather is perfect, and a Wednesday hike/snowshoe will be planned. You will receive an email with the details - - please "respond to all, only if you plan to attend, with which proposed location(s) you will meet for carpooling. If you would like to be on the hiking/snowshoeing email list or removed from the list, please contact Susie Price. A planning meeting will be held in March of 2021 following the general meeting to plan locations and leaders for the 2021 hiking season.
