Want to get acquainted with some of Kentucky’s thoroughbreds, but not interested in the racing aspect? Lexington is also home to some lovely Horse Parks like Mill Ridge Farm, Kentucky Horse Park and The Thoroughbred Center, any of which make for a memorable family outing.
Horse ParksKentucky is known for its Bourbon, and Lexington is no exception. Some of the nation’s best distilleries are located here including Town Branch Distillery, James E. Pepper Distillery, and is also home to some terrific breweries, like West Sixth Brewing.
Distilleries & Breweries
Keeneland is perhaps Lexington’s most iconic attraction. Kentucky is horse country, and Keeneland is often ranked as one of the country’s top race tracks. Meets are not generally scheduled during August, but under normal conditions the public is welcome to tour the facilities. Most visitors consider it a more relaxing and rewarding experience, as opposed to visting during the more hectic race time.
