UNITED STATES EQUESTRIAN FEDERATION Every Class offered herein, which is covered by the rules and specifications of the current United States Equestrian rule book will be conducted and judged in accordance therewith. Life, senior active and junior active members shall be eligible to participate in all classes at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions at the Modified Level or above and Combined Driving Competitions at the Advanced Level, Dressage, Reining and Vaulting Competitions and Endurance Rides. A non-member may participate as a handler, rider, driver, owner, lessee, agent, coach or trainer at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions, Dressage Competitions, Reining Competitions and Combined Driving Competitions upon payment of a $45 Show Pass fee. Participants in the following classes are exempted from the Requirements of this rule: 1) leadline; 2) exhibitions; 3) games and races; 4) classes for 4-H members; 5) walk trot (exception: Friesian performance FR218) and academy classes (academy classes are classes limited to horses used regularly in a lesson program); 6) USDF introductory level tests, pas de deux and quadrille classes; 7) NRHA Endorsed Reining Competitions. 8) Opportunity classes, 9) citizens of other nations who have proof, in English, of current membership in good standing of their own National Federation, 10) USEA beginner novice division; and 11) assistant handlers in Dressage Sport Horse Breeding classes.

FEDERATION ENTRY AGREEMENT By entering a Federation-licensed Competition and signing this entry blank as the Owner, Lessee, Trainer, Manager, Agent, Coach, Driver, Rider, Handler, Vaulter or Longeur and on behalf of myself and my principals, representatives, employees and agents, I agree that I am subject to the Bylaws and Rules of The United States Equestrian Federation, Inc. (the “Federation”) and the local rules of the competition. I agree to be bound by the Bylaws and Rules of the Federation and of the competition. I will accept as final the decision of the Hearing Committee on any question arising under the Rules, and agree to release and hold harmless the competition, the Federation, their officials, directors and employees for any action taken under the Rules. I represent that I am eligible to enter and/or participate under the Rules, and every horse I am entering is eligible as entered. I also agree that as a condition of and in consideration of acceptance of entry, the Federation and/or the Competition may use or assign photographs, videos, audios, cable - casts, broadcasts, internet, film, new media or other likenesses of me and my horse taken during the course of the competition for the promotion, coverage or benefit of the competition, sport, or the Federation. Those likenesses shall not be used to advertise a product and they may not be used in such a way as to jeopardize amateur status. I hereby expressly and irrevocably waive and release any rights in connection with such use, including any claim to compensation, invasion of privacy, right of publicity, or to misappropriation. ONLY. A processing fee of $100 plus collection fees will be made for any nonnegotiable checks. All horses entered must be named on the entry blank including those shown only in equitation where the rider is being judged. Entry blanks will be accepted ONLY when signed by the owner, rider or handler AND trainer. Every entry must be accompanied by a check for stabling and administration fees along with an open check or credit card form. Post entries will be accepted as noted above. Send all mail “No Signature Required.” NO STALL WILL BE RESERVED UNLESS ALL FEES NOTED ABOVE ARE PAID BY THE CLOSING OF ENTRIES. ENTRIES CLOSE June 18, 2021. STABLING The cost of stalls will be $150. PERMANENT STABLING Stalls are all permanent stabling. Stalls are of wood construction and approximately 9’ X 9’ and 10’ X 10’ with doors with dirt flooring. CREDENTIALS USEF and USHJA Membership and Junior Hunter Measurement cards must be presented to the office prior to receiving number. Copies may be sent with entries to facilitate this procedure. NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE. REFUNDS No refunds on stalls will be made under any circumstances after the closing date. Entry fees will not be refunded unless a certificate of illness or injury prepared by an accredited veterinarian is presented to the show secretary before the start of the show in which entered. Once the show begins, horses that are entered and do not show will forfeit their entry fees except if a horse becomes injured or ill prior to the class entered. Proper procedures to scratch must be made in the show office prior to the start of the class entered. A certificate from the official show veterinarian must accompany the scratch sheet. Whatever the case may be, an office fee of $45 will be charged.

NIGHT WATCH All horses occupying a stall are required to pay a one time fee of $10 per horse or pony. This service is NOT OPTIONAL. Horses will be checked four to five times throughout the night. Please provide emergency contact name, cell phone number and hotel information to the stable office. It is suggested that information be left near your stalls as well (tack room door, each stall, or barn boards). CAMPER HOOK-UPS Regretfully we are unable to accommodate any camper hook ups in 2021. We apologize for any inconvenience. MOTORIZED VEHICLES No Motorized Vehicles/Golf Carts will be allowed on the show grounds at anytime, only horse show staff and individuals with disabilities are permitted the use of motorized vehicles of any kind. Per USEF Rule GR 1301.7. Minors who do not have a valid driver’s license which allows them to operate a motorized vehicle in the state in which they reside will not be permitted to operate a motorized vehicle of any kind, including, but not limited to, golf carts, motorcycles, scooters, or farm utility vehicles, on the competition grounds of licensed competitions. Minors who have a valid temporary license may operate the above described motorized vehicles as long as they are accompanied by an adult with a valid driver’s license. The parent/legal guardian or individual who signs the entry blank as a parent or guardian of a minor operating a motorized vehicle in violation of this rule are solely responsible for any damages, claims, losses or actions resulting from that operation. Violations of this rule will be cause for penalties against those responsible for the child committing the offense. Wheelchairs and other mobility assistance devices for individuals with disabilities are exempt from this rule. The unsafe use of personal electronic transport devices, as determined by the competition officials and management in their sole discretion, that do not require a driver’s license to operate, including but not limited to segways, hover boards, and single wheeled scooters is prohibited on competition grounds. Operating such devices in areas where people gather may be deemed “unsafe use” if there is a risk of harm to others. If the operator of the device is a minor, the parent/legal guardian or individual who signs the entry blank as a parent or guardian of a minor operating the device in violation of this rule is accountable and may be subject to penalties. Wheelchairs and other mobility assistance devices for individuals with disabilities are exempt from this rule. RINGS AND FOOTING Dixon Oval 150’ x 325’ (Poel’s International All Weather Footing); Wheeler Ring 148’ x 295’ (Poel’s International All Weather Footing) SCHOOLING AND LUNGING Warm up ring is approximately 300' x 200'. Two lunging areas, the warm up area in addition to a second area that is approximately 100' x 200'.

SAFE SPORT Reminder: All USEF Life and Senior Active members, as well as participants who have regular contact with minor athletes, are required to comply with the U.S. Center for SafeSport training requirement to be eligible to participate in the competition. All participants must adhere to the U.S. Center for SafeSport Code, USEF Safe Sport Policy, and the Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policies. More information about these can be found at www.usef.org. IMPORTANT INFORMATION 1. The State of Pennsylvania requires that all horse be in possession of a negative

Coggins Test (E.I.A.) dated within 12 months. 2. Per USEF Rule GR845.1 Equine Vaccination Rule: At Federation licensed

competitions, horses entering the grounds must be accompanied by documentation of Equine Influenza Virus and Equine Herpes Virus (Rhinopneumonitis) vaccinations within six months prior to entering the stables. Horses not in compliance with this rule may be required to leave the competition grounds upon request by Competition Management. This paper work must accompany the horse upon arrival. Please complete the EVENT PARTICIPATION DOCUMENT available in the prize list and on line at www.brandywinehorseshows.com and present when picking up numbers in the show office. Do not send with entries.

3. SHARPS CONTAINER: Competition management is responsible for placing Sharps containers in convenient locations on Competition grounds and replacing them when full. Competition Management may fine any individual up to $100 for improper disposal of needles or other sharp disposable instruments. Competition management will place notice of this requirement either in its prize list or on a specific handout given to trainers on check in at the competition. See GR1210.4 for complete details and please make sure the requirements for Sharps Containers are met at this competition.

4. Paoli Memorial Hospital is the closest hospital, with emergency care and a trauma center. It is 4.7 miles away.

5. Brandywine Horse Shows will give priority stabling to exhibitors showing in all three competitions.

6. Anyone wishing to arrive early or stay later must check with management. NO EXCEPTIONS.

7. Night Watch is NOT OPTIONAL. See Rules & Regulations for more info. The fee is $10 per week, per occupied stall (horse or pony).

8. Horses not competing in the Brandywine Horse Shows may not arrive for the JHF prior to 6:00 PM on Saturday, July 10, 2021, without making prior arrangements.

9. Mandatory Administration fee of $45 and Ambulance Fee of $15 is NOT OPTIONAL.

10. The stable manager is Valerie Ziegler. 11. All owners and exhibitors shall be held responsible for any damage incurred by

them, their agents or any employees to stalls, building and other properties on the show grounds, and shall be billed accordingly.

Follow I-476 North for approximately 13 miles to exit 13, US- 30. Turn left onto US-30 West. Follow US-30 West for approximately 3 miles and the Devon Horse Show will be on your left. From the East: Follow the Schuylkill Expressway / I-76 West to I-476 South. Merge onto I-476 South via exit 331A on the left toward Chester. Follow I-476 South for approximately 2 miles to exit 13, US-30. Turn left onto US-30 West. Follow US-30 West for approximately 3 miles and the Devon Horse Show will be on your left. From the West: Follow the Pennsylvania Turnpike / I-76 E toward Philadelphia. Take exit 326 toward Valley Forge. Stay in right lane after the tolls. Merge onto US-202 South via exit 328A toward West Chester. Follow US-202 South for approximately 2 miles. Take the PA-252 North exit toward Devon. Make a left onto Valley Forge Road / PA-252. Continue to follow Valley Forge Road for approximately .5 miles and make a slight right turn onto Devon State Road. Follow Devon State road for approximately 1 mile until you reach a dead end. Make a left onto Old Lancaster Road and then an immediate right onto Waterloo Road. Turn left on to Lancaster Avenue / US-30 East and the Devon Horse Show will be on your right within .2 miles.

By Train-Paoli Local: From 30th Street Station in Philadelphia or Suburban Station in downtown Philadelphia at 16th and John F. Kennedy Boulevard. Paoli Local Trains run about every 35 minutes to Devon and return. Nationwide rail connections from 30th Street Station. PRIZE MONEY Prize money may be applied to your payment due. Any prize money over the payment due will be mailed within thirty days of the completion of the competition. Checks will be made payable to owners, unless otherwise stated, and will only be paid when the SS# or Federal Tax ID# has been provided to the Horse Show Office. All recipients of prize money totaling $600 or more will receive an IRS Form 1099. Prize money won by foreign exhibitors is subject to the US Internal Revenue Service regulation requiring sporting events to withhold 30% of prize money. Foreign exhibitors should apply for a Social Security Number and will be asked to complete form W-8BEN prior to receiving prize money. 

HUNTER CLASS SPECIFICATIONS

PURPOSE USEF Junior Hunter National Championship is designed to encourage and promote the basic training and development of Junior Hunters.

SECTIONS Both the 3’3” and 3’6” divisions are divided into Small and Large Junior Hunters and again by age, riders 15 & Under and riders 16-17. The 3’3” section is open to any Junior Rider and horse combination not entered in any 3’6” division. There is a total of 8 sections.

ELIGIBILITY In order to compete in the USEF Junior Hunter National Championship, the horse must be actively recorded with the Federation and registered with USHJA at the time of qualification and on or before the first day of the Championship. The Owner of record of the horse must be an Active member in good standing of the Federation and USHJA, i.e. horses must be shown in accordance with GR1102 and GR1108 in order to be eligible to qualify. Horses must have a valid microchip and current USEF measurement card.

a. A 3'3” Junior Hunter qualifies by winning a Championship or Reserve Championship in a “AA”, “A”, “B”, or “C” rated Junior Hunter 3'3” section at a competition with a start date from June 1, 2020 - May 31, 2021. A horse will also qualify if it is ranked in the top 10 on the USHJA Zone Horse of the Year ranking list for any of the Junior Hunter 3'3” sections based on results from competitions with a start date from December 1, 2020 - May 31, 2021.

b. A 3'6” Junior Hunter qualifies by winning a Championship or Reserve Championship in a “AA”, “A”, “B”, or “C” rated Junior Hunter 3'6” section at a competition with a start date from June 1, 2020 - May 31, 2021. A horse will also qualify if it is ranked in the top 10 on the USHJA Zone Horse of the Year ranking list for any of the Junior Hunter 3'6” sections based on results from competitions with a start date from December 1, 2020 - May 31, 2021.

c. Horses that are Champions or Reserve Champions in their respective sections at the previous year's Championship may return without qualifying.

PHASES The competition will be conducted in three separate phases: Under Saddle: To count 20%. To be shown at a walk, trot, and canter both ways of the ring. Horses are to hand gallop one direction, halt and back. Light contact with the horse’s mouth is required. Judges on performance and soundness. Manners and suitability to be emphasized. In the Under Saddle phase, horses shall be judged in groups of twelve or less. Classic Round: To count 40%. The course must include at least ten obstacles, have two changes of direction, and at least one combination. There shall be one single oxer on the course that shall be ridden at the gallop. Emphasis shall be placed on “brilliance” for this round. Handy Hunter: To count 40%. Obstacles should simulate those found in trappy hunt country. The course must have at least two changes of direction and at least one in and out as well as three of the following: hand gallop a jump, bending line, rollback turn, fence at the end of the ring or open a gate while mounted or trot over one obstacle. Judges must place emphasis on promptness and tight turns with precedence being given in that order. Handiness is defined as time and ground saving movement without adversely affecting performance or style. Brilliance of pace is defined as a faster pace than ordinary, without sacrificing performance or style. Hand Gallop is defined as a significant increase in pace without sacrificing performance or style. performance.

SCORING Under Saddle Phase: Horses shall be judged in groups of twelve or less. Each horse shall be judged and given a number score based on its performance. Handy Hunter and Classic Round: Each entry will be given a numerical score based on its performance. In both the classic and handy round, exhibitors will be eliminated after two cumulative refusals.

MISCELLANEOUS The same junior exhibitor is required to show an entry in all phases of the competition. The same junior exhibitor may show one small and one large entry. Cross entering is not permitted between the Junior Hunter 3’3” and 3’6” sections.

JUDGING PROCEDURES Three judges will judge each phase simultaneously but independently of each other. Each judge will give every entry a score for each phase. Prior to the Under Saddle and Handy Hunter, each entry’s score in the previous phase shall be totaled and announced. During the over fences phase, the Open Numerical Scoring System is used. After each entry completes the course each judge’s score for the round is immediately shown or announced. The total overall score for each entry is then calculated as soon as it has completed the last phase.

TIES Ties will be broken based on the score of the judge that is designated as judge number one for each phase of the Championship. If a ties still exists for the overall standings, the score from the Classic Round will break such a tie. Note: If a horse/rider combination does not complete a phase or is eliminated from that phase, that horse

will receive a score of “0” for that phase but may continue on to compete in the remaining phases of the Championship. A horse with a total score of “0” for a phase is not eligible for an award for that phase but is eligible for an overall award. COMPETITION SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS 1. Horses are required to be stabled on the competition grounds a minimum of 12

hours before the start of the Championship. 2. Commencing 12 hours prior to the start of the Championship and continuing

until through competing, only the competition rider may ride his/her entry. These riders must wear their competition number at all times anywhere on the grounds while mounted.

3. The Official Schooling and Lungeing areas will be designated and locations posted in the Show Office. Participants are restricted to schooling and lungeing only in the Official areas.

4. The use of illegal and/or dangerous jumps, equipment, bamboo offsets and poling is strictly prohibited.

5. Failure to comply with these rules will result in elimination if deemed appropriate by an appeals jury which will be compiled of one of the competition’s Federation Stewards, a member of the Federation staff, and the competition manager.

USHJA GLADSTONE CUP EQUITATION CLASSIC PRESENTED BY INTERMONT EQUESTRIAN AT EMORY AND HENRY Open to any Junior rider that has won either a USEF Hunter Seat Medal, ASPCA Maclay, USEF Show Jumping Talent Search, either phase of WIHS Equitation Classic at a National or Premier show, or Overall WIHS Equitation Classic at a competition with a start date between June 1 and May 31 of the qualifying year. Riders must be an active USHJA Junior member at the time of competition in order to compete. Past winners of the East Coast or West Coast USHJA Gladstone Cup Equitation Classic or former East Coast or West Coast USHJA Hunterdon Cup Equitation Classic are no longer eligible to compete in either finals. COMPETITION FORMAT Round 1–Classic Hunter Style Round: Riders to show over a classic hunter style course of at least ten (10) jumps. Scores to be announced. Round 2–Handy Hunter Round: Riders to show over a handy hunter course of at least ten (10) jumps. Handiness and brilliance to be emphasized. The top twenty (20) riders will return for the Handy Hunter Round in reverse order of scores from Round 1. Scores to be announced. Round 3–Final Round: Based on the combined scores from Rounds 1 and 2. A minimum of the top four (4) and a maximum of the top ten (10) riders will be asked to switch horses and jump a third course designed by the judges. The course will consist of components of Round 2 with a maximum of eight (8) jumps. The jumps may not be changed in any way from Round 2, and the riders may not be asked to execute anything that they have not already executed on their own horse previously in this competition. Riders will switch as follows: riders one and two, riders three and four, riders five and six, et cetera. The riders will be asked to switch horses in either the show arena or a secured schooling area with the help of one (1) assistant per rider. This assistant may not be the rider’s trainer. A schooling supervisor will oversee the switching of horses and subsequent schooling. Once the riders have switched horses they will line up at the direction of the judges and the course will be announced with the final competitors in the ring and all fences will be judged. As their numbers are called, riders will return in reverse order of the combined scores from Rounds 1 and 2 (lower to higher) and will be asked to do a brief flat, jump no more than two (2) schooling jumps and continue promptly to the final round course. No trainer assistance will be allowed once the finalists have been announced. Scores will be given, but not announced until the final awards ceremony.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS Jumps to be set at 3'6". Obstacles must simulate those reminiscent of the hunt field and course must offer a variety of Classic jumps with different appearances such as: natural post and rail, stone wall, white board fence or gate, coop, aiken, hedge, oxer, brush, logs, natural foliage. A variety of jumps that will nicely challenge the riders are encouraged. Classic Hunter Style Course (Round 1): Course must consist of a minimum of at least ten (10) obstacles, with at least one of each of the following: A minimum of 2 obstacles must not have ground lines; In and out; Bending line; Line with an unrelated distance; Long approach to a single jump; Narrow jump (5’6” -8’).

Handy Hunter Course (Round 2): The course should simulate riding over hunt country and must contain the following elements: Tight turns; Different tracks; Clever options for jump approaches; Hand gallop to a jump; Trot a lowered obstacle (not to exceed 2’6” in height).

SCHOOLING Horses are required to be stabled on the competition grounds for a minimum of twelve (12) hours before the start of the competition. Commencing twelve (12) hours before the start of the USHJA Gladstone Cup Equitation Classic competition and continuing until finished competing in the USHJA Gladstone Cup Equitation Classic, only the competition rider may ride his entry. These riders must wear their competition number whenever mounted. Riders may change horses for the Gladstone Cup only in the case of illness or injury to the declared horse, with verification from the horse show veterinarian and approval from the horse show committee.

JUDGING PROCEDURES Two judges will be selected by the USHJA for each of the USHJA Gladstone Cup Equitation Classics-East and West Coast. Both judges will sit together for the duration of the class and provide (1) numerical score for each competitor in each phase. Riders to be judged on style and smoothness with an emphasis on hunter style of riding. The scores from each phase will be combined for a final total score for each rider. The final combined scores from each rider will be used to determine placings. All ties will be broken using the scores from Phase 1.

AWARDS The previous year’s winner, if available, will be asked to assist in the presentation of the top ten (10) ribbons. Ribbons will be awarded 1st-10th place with the presentation of awards to be given in reverse order. The Overall Champion will be presented with a keeper trophy. Recognition will be given to the Trainer of the Overall Champion. Recognition will be given for the Best Equitation Horse. To be awarded to the horse deemed by the judges to be the best and most suitable Equitation horse competing in the Gladstone Cup.
