• 5 PERSON EVALUATION COMMITTEE + PLUS HEAD COACHES FORMING EACH TEAM
• COMMITTEE MEMBERS ARE: VP, TRAVEL DIRECTOR, PLAYER DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR,
TWO VOTED ON TRAVEL BOARD MEMBERS
• COMMITTED TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF PITCHERS & CATCHERS ON ALL TEAMS
TRYOUT SCORES / PREVIOUS YEAR COACH EVALUATIONS
• 8U – 100% TRYOUT SCORE
• 10U – (1ST YEAR) 80% TRYOUT 20% COACHES EVALUATION
• 10U (2ND YEAR & 3RD YEAR) / 12U (ALL) – 70% TRYOUT 30% COACHES EVALUATION

• 10U 6 – LEVELS DEPENDENT OF TRYOUT SCORES
• 12U 5 – LEVELS DEPENDENT OF TRYOUT SCORES
• 14U 1 – LEVEL DEPENDENT OF TRYOUT SCORES
TEAM SELECTION
• FORM STATES:
1. I WOULD LIKE TO PITCH/CATCH ON THE HIGHEST POSSIBLE TEAM BASED ON
MY SPECIALTY POSITION RANKING. I UNDERSTAND THAT I MAY HAVE BEEN
PLACED ON A HIGHER TEAM BASED ON OVERALL GENERAL PLAYER TRYOUT
RANKINGS BUT I AM CHOOSING TO EITHER PITCH OR CATCH.
2. I WOULD LIKE TO PLAY ON THE HIGHEST-LEVEL TEAM BASED ON MY OVERALL
PLAYER RANKING. I UNDERSTAND THAT THIS MEANS THAT I MAY NOT RECEIVE
ANY INNINGS AT THE SPECIALTY POSITION THAT I TRIED OUT FOR.
DEDICATION TO DEVELOPING PITCHING & CATCHING
• PITCHER & CATCHER SELECTION FORM
• REQUIRED TO BE FILLED OUT COMPLETELY AND HANDED IN BEFORE ANY TRYOUTS
TAKE PLACE
• HAVE THE CONVERSATION WITH YOU PLAYER BEFORE HAND
• NO CALLS POST TRYOUTS TO DETERMINE IF THE WANT TO P/C OR PLAY AT A HIGHER
LEVEL
TEAM SELECTION
• 8U Teams:
• depending on if there were two or more would be split up evenly talent wise.
• 10U – 14U:
• Previous year coach evaluation score will be used with the removal of both the
top & bottom scores submitted (so assuming four coaches - middle two scores
averaged)
• Players will receive a composite score which is composed of their tryout score and
a multiplier from their previous years coaching evaluation. (Algorithm created by
Mike Murray former S/S VP also used by P.L.A.Y. Baseball)
• Allows the committee and coaches to put together the most competitive team
possible and also allows for the player to be put in the position to succeed for the
season
• Helps to eliminate player misplacement on too high or too low a team
TEAM SELECTION
• Picking the A Team:
• The TOP 4 players will lock and then the coach will have a selection zone
of the next 14 players to choose from to create their team
• Based off registration numbers assume 11-12 players per team
• Players 1 – 4 lock
• Coach selects their next 8 players from the selection zone of 5 – 18
• After completing team picks the top 4 remaining players from the selection
zone then become the lock players for the next team (13 – 16)
• The next coach’s selection zone is then 17 – 30.
• Coaches must justify reasoning of selections to the committee
TRYOUTS & TEAM SELECTION
• We plan to post teams on website once selected
• Teams will be selected Thursday, March 12th – Sunday,
March 15th
• Teams will be posted no later than Wednesday March
18th barring any set backs (a lack of coaches to coach

Playing Time Philosophy
• League games are for player development
• Tournament Games – Lakers play to win (coaches should seek opportunities to
build positional depth for state)
• Players play where coaches believe the TEAM will have the most success
• Coaches are encouraged to play players in both the infield & outfield*
• * Coaches will take into consideration player interest & abilities
COMMUNICATION - SOCIAL MEDIA
• Sports Engine / E-mail
• Used for critical messages – including rainouts
• rained-out program has ended
• Trying to cut down on # of e-mails
• Facebook, Instagram, Twitter– strongly encouraged

USE OF SOCIAL MEDIA - PARENTS
• Social Media can greatly contribute to positive sports environment
• Talk about effort and process
• Celebrate sportsmanship
• Ok to celebrate winning too – unless only focus
• Not recommended you post personal stats – “we not me”
• Not the place to air grievances – respect people enough to speak
with them directly about concerns
• Teach players about social media footprints
• Make sure our players are not making fun of others about team, stats, etc.
• Your social media presence is how you represent your family and community
