A letter from your Chapter Directors
On Saturday May 2nd we took a bike ride from Ft. Loudon through Altoona past Raystown and back to Milky Way for Ice cream, don’t worry we all had masks on. Eating ice cream
with a mask is difficult to say the least. On Sunday May 10th we met at the Milky Way for ice cream with one another. We ordered ice cream and enjoyed one another’s fellowship for Mothers Day. What a great time. We are planning on riding more while practicing social distancing on the bikes traveling for more ice cream.
I believe all the PA district Events have been cancelled for June but check your calendar for details. Looking forward to our Gatherings starting back up at Stoners Restaurant.
We are meeting for ice cream at the Milky Way on Father’s Day June 21st. On June 26 to 28 we are meeting at the Roxbury Camp Grounds. One day a ride planning meeting, and one day ice cream and fireworks bring your lawn chair, read the calendar for more details. Chapter “C” is having another campout July 11th with a Corn Boil. The corn boil was a great success last year with between 30 to 40 people there.
Please help Stoners Restaurant with a take-out order if you’re in the area they could use the business, this is where we have our Gatherings.
Keep safe on the road where-ever you go,
Myron & Audrey Wenger Chapter Directors
Pennsylvania Chapter “C”
A letter from your PA District Directors
Well it is official Pennsylvania is now a traffic light. Some areas are green, some are yellow and others remain red. I know it is difficult to continue with home isolation, social distancing and wearing masks nevertheless, this plan has kept the majority of us safe and well. So, continue to do your part to keep everyone safe by adhering to the guidelines in your area or the area you are traveling. When the pandemic began, many of us were
searching for toilet paper. The majority of the stores in our area have hard to find items from time to time or maybe I’m not going to the store often enough to look for them.
The big question many of are asking is when can I get a haircut? The majority of us need a haircut. My last haircut was March 13 th and what little hair I have has grown out and is driving me crazy. No laughing. Yes, Diane volunteered to give me a trim but, I was apprehensive to give her scissors. I may not have had any hair left.
We have been on a multitude of Zoom meeting. It has been great to see you! There are many more Zoom meetings in the next few weeks and we will try to make as many as we can. You know our schedule is really busy with most events being canceled. If your chapter has not tried a Zoom meeting and would like to have one, get in touch with us and we will help you set one up.
With the PA District Rally being canceled, we needed to have a plan to select or 2020-2021 PA District Couple of the Year. We used Zoom and are honored to have Ray and Doreen Snyder, PA-I, selected as the PA District Couple of the Year. The District Team has been working on the 2021 PA District Rally. The rally dates are May 20-22, 2021 to be held in Pennsylvania. We plan on having the rally flyer and registration out this month. Does anyone have any ideas where we are going? The next District events on the schedule as of this date are: 08/16/20 PA District Ride-In – Note this will only happen if the whole state is green and the estimated size of our group is within the guidelines. 09/11-13 All Chapters East (ACE) – Get you registration in by August 22, 2020 Your host chapter is PA-X; the campground is Bodnarosa Motel & Campground, Berwick Registration is located on the District website at www.gwrrapadist.org or this newsletter This is a great weekend to see people from other chapters. Come join the FUN! Summer will officially be here on June 20th.
So, as we leave our homes and go out and about be mindful. Keep your social distancing and wear your mask. Respect the other persons decision to join or not to join. And give yourself a hug instead of a hug from your friend or family.
Keep safe, be well and we hope to see all of you soon! And remember to always ride safe!

FROM YOUR PA DISTRICT EDUCATOR
We hope that everyone has had a wonderful riding season thus far and keeping in mind that the best is yet to come. Periodically the question has been asked is that MODULATINGHEADLIGHT LEGAL? YES – they are legal in all 50 states and Canada! That doesn’tmean you will not be pulled over by a law enforcement officer that is unaware of the Federal Standard. Note that laws do change. Even this one has been revised to a new location within the last few years. A novice with a little knowledge of Federal codes digging awhile can find this information, but you need not take the word of someone not trained in law. Since these devices are permitted by express federal regulation, no state may have a law or regulation, which prohibits them. The federal standard preempts the state in this regard I would highly recommend carrying the manufacturer’s pocket card or information available in many places on the World Wide Web such as http://users.snip.net/ CLAMB/MODULATOR.HTM Having it in black and white lends credibility to your explanation. One officer who also rides a motorcycle was going to see about modifying his own ride! Remember to be considerate of other riders when riding in a group. If you are not the lead it is suggested that you turn off the modulating headlight so other riders are not distracted by it flashing in their mirrors and oncoming traffic is not drawn to itwith you riding in the middle of the group. This is a great safety tool, use it wisely and remember ATGATT.

A letter from your Chapter Roll for the Dough Coordinators
Hi All,The month of June is waiting for us to enjoy the warm sunshine, riding our bikes,
camping and fellowship. Finally I believe there is a light at the end of the tunnel from COVID 19. Our prayers go out to Barb in her recovery as we look forward to Rich & Barb joing us soon.
There are 2 camping weekends scheduled at Roxbury. Information on these will be forthcoming. I believe we do have visiting chapters joining us. I will be ready for the Corn Boil as I had my first corn on the cob Memorial Day. Going to be a good time so don't miss out!
The Roll for Dough, I would like to go visit PA W June 27. Perhaps a ride afterwards to Lake Raystown and ice cream on the way home. This will be if they are having a gathering at Kelly's Restsurant so watch for announcements. Always a fun time.
Father's Day ice cream at Milky Way? Look for information in the future.Watch for the updates from our Chapter Directors. I believe anywhere we want to go we will need to call in advance to be sure of hours they are open. I would like to do the Soft Pretzel ride that was cancelled. Remember to TCLOCK before every ride. Most of us have been out riding. My first ride I went to the Gettysburg Battlefield as there are many roads with turns to get a feel of the bike.
Look forward to being together soon for a ride, ice cream and fellowship!
Stay Safe till we can get together! Barry & Rhonda
Notes from your Chapter Ride CoordinatorI have been trying to keep up with what is canceled and rescheduled. Md-F Fun day
is canceled & they are uncertain right now about the rider courses. I have a motel booked forAmericade, but registration is not open yet. According to what I can find from Americade, theyoriginally planned to open registration on 15 May but they wanted a “couple extra days” toensure the NY governor didn’t change things so the new date was 20 May; however, when theywent to “turn the switch on” the whole thing crashed (I didn’t do it). Americade is saying theyare changing things around to allow social distancing to include canceling “shoulder to shoulderevents”, all rides will be self guided, seminars will be online, etc. Wing Ding is going to be inSpringfield, Mo next year but is the week after our Kentucky trip is scheduled so the ridecommittee will discuss if that needs to change.
I spoke to Jo at Stoner’s. Franklin County is scheduled to move to Yellow status soon then should move to Green after 2 weeks (barring a spike in Covid numbers). She said that what she’s hearing is that once we are Green, restaurants can have inside dining, but with no more than 6 to a table meaning we would not really be able to have our Gatherings (Pizza night & Breakfast are questionable). I have tried to research this and cannot find confirmation.
The state is treating Green status as if that’s as good as it gets so I’m seeing no information about moving out of Green, thus being able to hold our group functions (indoors). If someone has more information on that, please share it with me so we can get it to the group.
Like I said last month, I’m hardly putting any miles on my bike so another friendly reminder to check your bike over (T-CLOCKS), re-familiarize yourself to the bike, and go through your mental preparedness checklist. I rode to Virginia (150 miles round trip) & I can assure you I’m not ready to put in a 500 mile day so allow yourself time to “toughen up” too.
Allow me to share another “it happened to me” moment. Most of you know by now that I’m the newly “elected” president of the local beekeepers association. One of the things we do is visit apiaries (bee yards) to assist, especially new beekeepers. I did a visit to a nice property and of course took the opportunity to ride the bike. As I pulled in, there was a nice concrete area infront of a 2 car detached garage which I thought would be ideal to park the bike. Practicingwhat I preach, I’m always taking the opportunity to practice tight low speed turns so I basicallydid a U-turn in front of the garage so I’m pointed the right direction to leave. As I was turning, Ifelt the bike “slip” like the front wheel was sliding sideways…what I didn’t see as I pulled in was 2 pieces of concrete rebar laying there which was an ideal recipe for disaster. Fortunately, noharm & I recovered gracefully (bike remaining upright).
