2020 Local Community Scholarships Using the Schreiber High School Scholarship Application
Financial Need Scholarships
The following scholarships are for students who are in need of financial assistance to pay for
college. Along with the application, a copy of the EFC found on the SAR Report from the
FAFSA will be required for these scholarships. To access your FAFSA Student Aid Report, log
on to FAFSA.ed.gov and click on “View and Print your Student Aid Report”. Select the
Transaction you want to print. The screen will display your “Processing Information”. The
entire report can be printed by clicking on “Print Summary”.

One scholarship $1,000
General scholarship for student pursuing a college degree or vocational training in any
of the following fields: Interior Design, Architecture, Graphic Art, Commercial Art,
Photography.
Completed Schreiber High School Scholarship application, counselor recommendation, a
small portfolio of their work submitted along with a minimum 300 word essay about
their desire to pursue this career path.

Community Chest Scholarship
Amount Varies
General scholarship for college study. Requires completed Schreiber High School
Scholarship application; a copy of the FAFSA/SAR; a copy of family's latest tax return and
when available name of collete you will be attending and financial aid package offered
by college; counselor recommendation.
In addition, by May 1: provide the name of the college you will be attending and copy of
your financial aid award letter from that college to the Guidance Department. If you are
undecided, or have not yet received your financial aid award letter, please let the
Guidance Department know.
Custodial & Maintenance Local 865/Unit 7567 Scholarship
Two scholarships $500 each
A student in good standing, financial need, participates in extra-curricular activities or
steady employment or volunteers.
Requires completed Schreiber High School Scholarship application, two
recommendations (teacher, employer, coach, counselor) A personal statement with
career plans and whatever you would like to say about dreams, goals, philosophy,
opinions, accomplishments.

General scholarship for college study. Students with outstanding quality of character,
doing their best with their best with their God-given intelligence in their grades and

Dance Arts Centre Performing Arts Scholarship
One scholarship $1,000
General scholarship for college study for a student involved in performing arts. Financial
need; academic performance and dedication to the performing arts at Schreiber High
School are criteria. Requires completed Schreiber High School Scholarship application;

General scholarship for college study (4 year college).

Also, a short essay is required. The essay may speak about a time when the writer was
able to find greater self-compassion because they went beyond the status quo, or chose
to non-conform in a positive way, and how they found themselves stronger for it. The
essay can be about a time when the"weird" in someone else inspired the student to be
true to his or herself. The student might share their own story of embracing their
"weird" in order to allow their soul to soar, instead of wither.

Student demonstrates true effort and diligence in their studies and activities and is in
need of scholarship funds to continue their education.

What were the consequences of indifference to hate during the Holocaust and
elsewhere throughout history? What are some examples of indifference to hate in and
elsewhere throughout history? What are some examples of indifference to hate in
today's world and what are the consequences? The entry may not exceed 1,000 words
and must be typed double-spaced on one side of the paper. A panel of judges will
evaluate the entry on content, originality, quality of expression and accuracy.

The scholarship is for women or minorities who intend to foster interest in technology in
general, and software application development in particular. The $1,500 award may be
granted to one individual or divided between two individuals.

All college-bound seniors are eligible, with the exception of relatives of current Ed.
Foundation board members and advisors who are excluded from applying.

How has the Ed. Foundation (formerly PWEF) affected your educational experience in
Port Washington? Your response could include information regarding any Ed.
Foundation grants, an experience at the Ed. Foundation Support Center, the impact of
an Ed. Foundation technology grant in your classroom, participation on a trip that was
funded by the Ed. Foundation, etc. Please limit your response to no more than on page.
Although the Ed. Foundation does not require a formal recommendation letter, please

General award for college study. Schreiber High School guidance counselors will select
the recipient of the scholarship.
Student must be a graduate of The Happy Montessori School.
