Avalon Shutters, Incorporated is the largest custom wood shutter manufacturer on the west coast of the United States. The company distributes its shutters nationwide through various private label companies and major outlets such as The Home Depot, which has recognized Avalon as one of its top suppliers. The company, led by CEO and co-founder Bob Marcynyszyn, produces shutters 24 hours per day at its 150,000 square foot headquarters in Perris.

Founded in 2003 by the Inland Empire Center for Entrepreneurship (IECE) at Cal State San Bernardino, the Spirit of the Entrepreneur Awards is the premier business event of Inland Southern California. Often dubbed the “Oscars of business” by attendees and past award recipients, the primary goal is to recognize entrepreneurial role models and highlight the incredible business successes of the region.

In addition, each event features student business concepts from Cal State San Bernardino as part of the Garner Holt Student Fast Pitch Competition, where they compete for $7,500 in prize money. The top students make a 90-second pitch of their startup ideas which will be judged and awarded in terms of presentation and business potential.

After arriving in America at the age of 17, Kelly Hong persevered through discrimination and the language barrier to realize her dream of becoming a leader and a dentist. Starting Kelly Smile Dentistry in 2006, Dr. Hong has expanded to multiple locations and has plans to continue the impressive growth of the Victorville-based firm, with the ultimate goal of launching a non-profit, community based dental office.
