The years that followed have seen many changes. That spirit of embracing the unknown, trying things and grasping opportunities have led to some successes and some failures. But the spirit remains the same. The garments are still designed in New Zealand. It’s still a family company, nowadays based down in Invercargill. We’re looking forward to the future and more adventures. Because everyday is an adventure.

It started in 1966. A humble single upstairs room on Queen Street, Auckland. It began with an idea, a sense of adventure and a willingness to step into the unknown. The first clothes were made for children. Beautifully designed and crafted clothes with an experts attention to detail.

We think it’s incredibly important to detail our purpose and share it with everyone. It’s an ideal we hold ourselves accountable to and expect others to do the same. We sum it up with the words ‘With You All The Way’. This is our commitment to: employees, distributors, suppliers, design, the environment, communities, journeys & dreams. Styles are stocked in New Zealand and are usually available for overnight delivery nationwide. There is no minimum order; beneficial if someone joins your team or group and you need just that extra single garment.

Aurora garments are designed for branding, using either screenprinting, embroidery or other embellishment methods.

Idea/concept is drawn-up.

Size grading, pattern making and fit sampling.

Yarn spinning, fabric weaving or knitting, fabric dyeing, zip and trim production and quality control.

Lab testing, fabric cutting, sewing and adding trims with further quality control. Post production with final quality control and packing.

Foreign exchange, duty, and customs clearance. Freight from factory to port, internal freight in NZ. Delivered and invoiced in NZ dollars.

A process rooted in ethicality

It gets even more complex when you do it the right way. For us, that means an emphasis on the ethics and sustainability of our supply chain.

The apparel industry is incredibly complex. Your garments will go on a long journey, from a field of cotton waiting to be picked, a paddock full of merino sheep needing shearing, or from the incredibly complex machinery required by man-made yarns. The process involves many relationships, spanning multiple continents, languages and cultures. The most basic overview looks a little like this.

Our factory code of conduct is based on the 12 principles set out by the WRAP Organisation (Worldwide Responsible Accreditation). These principles include the prohibition of forced labour, child labour, abuse, discrimination; and ensure fair compensation, working hours, environment, and health and safety. We believe a factory should not only meet these standards ‘on paper’ but that a culture of care should exist top down. Once a factory is selected, we then conduct periodic audits to ensure these standards are upheld.

Indenting is when we manufacture garments to your specific requirements. We take your initial concept and make it real, providing you with a finished product. The benefits are many. You get a unique garment for the best possible price, whilst benefiting from our experience and expertise in; concept development, pattern making, weaving and dyeing, sourcing of zips and trims, pre-production sampling, lab testing, sewing, quality control, packaging foreign exchange, freighting, customs clearance and delivery.

Minimums required vary and may start from as little as 300 units. Lead times are typically 18 weeks +.
