NEWSLETTER 3 July 2020 UPCOMING DATES/REMINDERS Dear Parents/Caregivers and whanau Last week I let you know that mid-year reports will come home with the children at the end of the first week of next term. I did, however, omit to say that these are only for children who have not had either a 6 week or a 6 month report already this year. If your child has been at school less than 6 weeks, this will still be coming up. This is the case for all the children in Waka and SOME of the children in Huia. Please talk with one of the teachers if you are unsure about this. PTA FUNDRAISER Order forms came home earlier in the week for these frozen products. Orders are due back at school by the 22nd July and delivery is Thursday 6th August. Feel free to ask friends and family if they would like to place an order with you. Payment is by cash or online banking (with online banking the preferred option) - please ensure that friends pay you and you make just ONE deposit to us per order form. Thank you very much for your support. MATARIKI Thank you to Mrs Blay for organising a small celebration to honour matariki this week. The Kapa Haku roopu performed for us and we marked the occasion with the planting of a new tree - in the years to come this tree will provide more shade in the junior playground area. ATAWHAI AWARDS The following people were recognised at assembly this morning for showing kindness. TKW - Anne L. Anne shows atawhai by helping the new students in our classroom. She is so kind and caring and is an amazing role model for other students in Waka. TKP - Hannah P. Hannah is a kind, focused, hard working member of TKP. She leads by example by organising herself and her equipment .She speaks kindly to other children and adults in small and large group situations. Well done Hannah! TKM – Marshal ALWAYS treats others with kindness and patience. Thank you for being kind Marshal. TKA - Hasala K.Hasala has been an exceptional role model in TKA. His positive attitude towards all activities is impressive. His smile is infectious. Hasala is always the first to offer help and support to others. He contributes to the Kete environment by taking responsibility for his and others property. Thank you for always making positive choices, you are a reliable and valued member of our Kete. TKT - Riley J. Riley, your smile is infectious. You have a great sense of humour and those around you are always laughing and having fun. We have seen you show the utmost kindest to those who look up to you. You have demonstrated patience and perseverance helping those around you who have needed support. You have a caring and gentle nature that we have had the pleasure of seeing this year. Thank you for showing kindness Riley, we appreciate you. STAFF - Ms Finikin. Ms Finikin is a very kind and caring person. She heard that our local Hospice was running very low in supplies to give to people who need to stay in the hospice, so organised a donation box. Ms Finikin has a family member in need, she has responded with total generosity to help save their life. Thank you for being so kind Gwenna. Thanks to each and every one of you for displaying kindness. Kind people make this world a better place to be! UPCOMING DATES/REMINDERS

WHOLE SCHOOL STRIVE REWARD DRAW

Remember the fun we had with water play last term? The term 2 vouchers have been counted and the winning reward was .. (drum roll)..... Digi Hour! So in the first week of next term we will celebrate with an hour of digital fun.

Term 2 closes at 3pm today. Term 3 opens at 8.50am on Monday 20th July. Wishing everyone a safe and happy term break.
