    TARGETED ATHLETES

The Biathlon Alberta Training Center is targeted at athletes between the ages of 18-23, or in the Learn to Compete to Train to Win stages of physical development. Athletes have graduated high school and are focused and committed to performance in biathlon. Athletes have shown potential for success in the sport and are competitive at the national level. The Biathlon Alberta Training Center has two streams for enrolment: the Performance Stream and the Post-Secondary Stream.

    PERFORMANCE STREAM

Athletes reside in Canmore and train full time throughout the year (May-March). This stream is best suited for athletes who have a primary goal of elevating their performance in biathlon.

Athletes in this stream are striving to achieve an internationally successful biathlon career. POST-SECONDARY STREAM

This stream is aimed at high-performance athletes whose primary focus is biathlon, but who also choose to pursue a part-time post-secondary education. As biathlon is a late-development sport, we are proud to offer an option to pursue goals in both biathlon and a post-secondary education. Athletes in both streams are expected to make a year-round commitment to the sport of biathlon, and to the training center. Ideal candidates are athletes training for long term international success. The Biathlon Alberta Training Center is based in Canmore. As such, athletes are expected to train in Canmore. Athletes graduating from high school are expected to train in Canmore after graduation. Athletes in the Post-Secondary stream are expected to train in Canmore for the summer training block (May-August), and commit to attending up to three training sessions/week with the training center during the academic year (September-March)

performance profile. 4. Deliver coaching that meets each athlete’s unique learning and development needs 5. Accommodate full-time, year-round training and competition schedules. 6. Work closely with our Integrated Support Teams.
