What is

Business Continuity?

“The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.” Ancient Chinese Proverb.

When disaster strikes, in an ideal world you already have an idea for what you’ll do to keep on keeping on and make the best of the hand you’ve been dealt. However many don’t have a plan, and commonly one of three things happen:

1. Some fold their hand and bow out. I give up! 2. Some go all in on their existing strategy and hope things work out. They get high on

“hopium”. 3. Others have spent some time thinking through what the worst-case scenarios might be and

what they could do to mitigate the risk, or even use the situation to their advantage. Some call this “inversion activity” or a “pre-mortem”. Whatever you call it, it amounts to the same thing… plan for the worst, hope for the best. These are the businesses that survive and even thrive in amongst a crisis.

Which category are you in? Choose now, 1, 2, or 3!

☐ I give up! ☐ Hope for the best… ☐ Let’s make a plan!

Plan purpose This Business Continuity Plan template will guide you through some of the key things you need to think about for your business, focusing on coaches, therapists and practitioners specifically in light of the current pandemic to help your business survive and thrive.

1—Start with gratitude It’s important to remember to utilise your existing strengths and be grateful for the opportunities that crisis can bring. You can do this!!

List your top 5 business strengths going in to this situation:

Strengths (ways in which you are already setup to win) How will I use this to my advantage?

1

e.g. Already have client onboarding / management in place (online session scheduling and reminders, automatic invoice/payments)

I will offer reduced fee specials, and onboard more clients easily

2 e.g. Already have online membership, resources, learning system

I will offer a new online products

3

5

List your top 5 opportunities this situation presents:

Opportunities (for new business, or to reinvent your business) How will I capitalise on this opportunity?

1 e.g. People have less money, but more time

I will focus on content for them to use and build my community

2 e.g. People are crying out for ways to stay positive and healthy

I will showcase how my business helps them do that

3 e.g. People need positive ways to spend their time

I will give them content to consume and actions to take

2—Remote delivery (Impact assessment and mitigation)

The biggest impact currently facing coaches, therapists and healers is that face-to-face delivery is becoming harder, especially for group delivery.

Products/services/elements of your business that currently rely on face-

to-face contact?

Can be adapted to

online/phone delivery? Yes/No

What needs to change?

3—Reduced investment (Impact assessment and mitigation) The next biggest impact is that clients are distracted, withdrawing in fear and less likely to spend money and invest in themselves.

What can I do to increase income? • Apply for government concessions and grants to support you. • Consider ways you can take your existing expertise and turn it into a new product that can

be delivered online or remotely via teleconferencing software. • Look at doing more for your community, more promotion and events. Many businesses will

be shrinking back. Now is your time to shine!

List 5 things you can do to increase income: Increased income activity Easy, medium, or

difficult to do? How much could

you make?

Order your activities by the amount you could make. If the top 3 items are easy, do them now. If they are medium, plan to do them in the next month.

What can I do to reduce costs? • If you have a tax debt, the ATO have agreed to defer tax debts for a limited period. Contact

them for details. • Go over your books and work out how much on average your costs are each month, and

where the biggest expenses are. • Stop unnecessary subscriptions, stop large expenses, even if it reduces your quality of

service temporarily. • Consider streamlining and automating processes. It’s amazing what the right tech tools can

do for you automatically these days. • Consider delivering more through online training or teleconference sessions to cut back on

the amount of time you need to spend, and time/expense commuting and venue hire etc.

List 10 things you can do to reduce costs:

4—Risk management Risks are challenges you might face in future. Issues are challenges that are already upon you. For the sake of simplicity, we’ll list them both here.

Note: We’ve already addressed some of the risks from the 2 biggest impact areas in this plan above. This

List risks and issues List each risk/issue you can think of, and rate them from 1-5:

• How likely is it to happen? (5 = it happened already, 1 = 0-20% chance) • How severe is the impact? (5 = bankrupt, 1 = little to no impact) • Calculate risk rating by comparing ‘how likely’ with ‘how severe’ (see table below).

E.g. 5 x 5 = Extreme

Risks or issue How likely? How severe? Risk rating

1 e.g. Face-to-face contact with colleagues, partners and clients will be impacted or banned

2 e.g. Access to business supplies may be impacted

3 e.g. The economy slows down, so people tighten up their spending

4 e.g. People are acting out of fear, which means they aren’t focusing on moving towards goals

Risk mitigation and contingencies For your greatest risks, you want to have an idea of how you will mitigate them (reduce the risk) if they happen. And if they do happen, or are already happening, you want a contingency plan for what you will do to respond and recover (ie PLAN B).

About Andrew Ramsden

I’m Andrew, I am a Business Leverage Mentor + Digital Marketing Strategist. I specialise in helping accomplished business owners UNLEASH their ULTIMATE BUSINESS. A business with profits, leverage and lifestyle.

With over 20 years experience, I have helped hundreds of leaders and teams all around Australia gain their time and money back, increase their profits and make a bigger impact in their own businesses and in the world as a result.

I have a Masters of Information Technology, Graduates Diploma of Strategic Leadership and am a Certified NLP Practitioner and Matrix Therapy Coach. I use these qualifications and my extensive experience to help businesses leverage their time, talent, tech and team to streamline and scale their business and profits.

My clients come to me because I am able to take their vision, processes and expertise, emphasise their MAGIC and MONETISE it. This is how I leverage their unique talents. With step-by-step structure, automation and systems, along with the right strategies, it can be a very fast process to add six figures or more to their profits all while simplifying their business.

The major problems I solve are a lack of time, a lack of profits and a lack of leverage within the business. I see too many conscious business leaders get caught up in the trading-time-for-money trap and working IN the business instead of ON their business. Which means they have a glorified job.

You are NOT your business!!! You are a business LEADER! Now is the time to step up and own it.

Our values Our values are more than just words on a wall, they guide everything we do. We like to work with

organisations whose values align with ours.

Partner with integrity Curiosity and adaptation Fun and creativity Work and live with purpose

Together we can heal and transform the world, but it

starts with us, trust and reliability

Always open to learning about ourselves and others

allows us to grow and flourish

Enjoy the journey! Relaxation, fun and

happiness support creativity and innovation

Our goal is to level-up human

consciousness. We do that by amplifying your impact

Our vision By partnering with us, you can help us achieve our vision:

To heal and transform the world. By amplifying the work conscious leaders do. So people can be happy, fulfilled and purposeful in their work and personal lives. They are able to raise their sights and feel empowered to tackle

the real problems that face society and the world.
