CHELTENHAM HIGH SCHOOLSchool CommunityCheltenham School Distr ict ser ves a population of nearly 37,000 residents in a nine square mile area. Like the Township, the School Distr ict is highlydiverse with an ethnic student body population consisting of 54% Afr icanAmerican, 29% Caucasian, 6% Asian, 3% Hispanic, and 8% other races. T he Distr ict operates four K –4 elementar y schools, one 5–6 elementar yschool, one 7–8 middle school, and one high school, ser ving approximately4,500 students.
General InformationCheltenham High School is a four-year public school that emphasizes collegepreparation. All students pursue an academic program that is supplemented by many elective courses in fine ar ts, music, practical ar ts, and humanities. Elective programs in all subject areas are designed to meet the diverse needsof the student body. Classes are generally classified into one of the followingareas: Advanced Placement, Honors, or College Prep. Career and technology education is offered at the Eastern Center, where students can pursue one of four teen programs. Dual enrollment oppor tunities are offered at ArcadiaUniversity, Manor College, and Penn State Abington.
Grades, Weight, and RankingGPA for all students is on a 4.0 scale and includes all subjects except coursesgraded on a Pass-Fail basis. Class rank is based on the weighted GPA.
