Dribble your way into basketball this spring. This program will teach proper dribbling, passing, and shooting techniques. Participants will stay active and engaged while having a great time. Class size is limited. Location: Howe Gym Date Time Day March 13-20 (2 classes) 6-6:45 p.m. Wednesday Fees: $5 Resident; $8 Non-Resident
This training provides kids, ages 11-15, with the information and skills necessary to provide safe and responsible care in the absence of parents/guardians. This training will also help participants develop skills in leadership, professionalism, basic care, safe play, and first aid. Participants must pass skills and written tests to receive certification. Students should bring a bag lunch and should review book prior to class. (Participant handbook and DVD may be picked up at Parks & Recreation Department.) Limit 10. Location: City Hall, first floor conference room. Pee Wee Basketball (ages 3-5)
Kids will get a chance to use acrylics on canvas board or stretched canvas. We provide an artistic experience that is sure to leave a lasting impression. All kids get to leave with their own masterpiece! Class size will be limited. KidZ Art (ages 6+)
This fun and active “skills and drills” workshop is for beginners. Beginner lesson emphasis on serving, dinking, volley strokes, positioning, and game mechanics. A great way to get started or improve your game. Limited to 16 participants. Location: East Junior High Fieldhouse Date Time Day January 9 6-8 p.m. Wednesday Fees: $5 Resident; $8 Non-Resident
Pickleball Workshop: Basics for Beginners
Do you like to skate and color? You can do both at this event! You don’t want to be “left out in the cold” by passing up this event. Don’t hesitate; plan on attending this “cool” offering! Color and Skate - A Great Family Event!
Sledding is available at Poplar Springs Park. Sled at your own risk! The Wisconsin Rapids Parks & Recreation Department reminds people that they are responsible for safety while sledding on city property. Parents are encouraged to ensure supervision is provided before letting children play on hills. Please check to make sure the hills are safe for sledding.

Witter Ice Pond Warming House Hours Date of Opening: December 19, 2018 Weekdays: 5:30-8 p.m. Weekends: 1-8 p.m. Non-School Days: 1-8 p.m. Holidays: Closed (12/24, 12/25 & 1/1) Closed for Season: February 28, 2019 The above hours are for the warming house only. The public may skate during other open park hours, but the warming house will only be open and an attendant on duty during the times listed above, weather permitting. There are a limited number of ice skates and sizes available for public use.
Robinson Park There is also a low board hockey pond at Robinson Park. However, there is no warming house available. No hockey sticks or pucks will be allowed at Witter Field.

Please watch for a text, or check parks.wirapids.org and the Parks & Recreation Facebook page prior to calling the office regarding cancellation of various activities sponsored by the Parks & Recreation Department due to inclement weather. Classes missed for individual absences (i.e., illness, vacations, etc.) are not “made-up” nor may participants attend classes other than the one they are registered for.
Closures, Cancellations & Make-Ups
Photographs
For program promotion purposes, we may photograph several of our activities and their participants. Photographs may be used in various fliers, brochures or on our website. If you do not wish to have your or your child’s photo taken, please notify us when registering.
Refunds
Full Refunds will be given if: 1) Program is cancelled, 2) Attendee gives at least 24 hours’ notice prior to the start of the program, or 3) If there are changes to the original schedule and the participant can no longer attend. No refunds will be issued after the start of the program. Class fees will not be prorated.
Resident/Non-Resident
Non-Residency is any location outside of the Wisconsin Rapids city limits; i.e., Biron, Grand Rapids, Kellner, Nekoosa, Port Edwards, Rudolph, Saratoga, etc. Even if your address is Wisconsin Rapids, you are not considered a resident if you live in a surrounding community. If you have a question about your residency, please give us a call. We thank you for your interest and participation in our programs!!
