Kimmel Center Cultural Campus

Dear friends,

Welcome to our storied Academy of Music – the perfect setting for a musical set more than 100 years ago. Whether you are returning to the immersive tale of Fiddler on the Roof and their fictional town of Anatevka after many years or watching the world of old Russia come to life on stage for the very first time, you will be absorbed into a story rich in the importance of family and tradition.

Tradition, tradition! Speaking of… on the Kimmel Center Cultural Campus, we have plenty of ongoing traditions that, together, weave a brilliant tapestry of diverse community-minded programming all year long. My personal favorite, A Soulful Christmas, enlists local African American churches and choirs in an annual concert that uplifts, inspires, and builds community. One burgeoning tradition for us is Sing Hallelujah, with Jewish choral music presented by singers from local synagogues and community-based Jewish choirs. Tuba Christmas yearly unites over 100 Philadelphia sousaphone, tuba, and euphonium musicians in playing holiday tunes to crowds in Commonwealth Plaza. And, of course, we plan all-day, FREE celebrations for arts-lovers of all ages, from our New Year’s Day party to Organ Day.

Across nine venues, with over 9,000 seats per night, our Campus truly makes #ArtHappenHere. We want to extend a heartfelt best wishes to all eight of our respected Resident Companies as they individually launch their 2018-19 seasons this fall. We offer special congratulations to Opera Philadelphia on the return of festival O18 in September. The Kimmel Center was proud to serve as an O18 Presenting Partner, working in collaboration with the Opera and declaring our belief that this city values artistic innovation and experimentation.

Are you new to the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts or have yet to experience any of our aforementioned traditions? Sign up for our weekly Ovation newsletters or follow us on social media @KimmelCenter to get involved! We look forward to seeing you around our Campus this year. Warmly,
