The contest marks the first time the Black & Gold have faced the Riverhounds in the U.S. Open Cup. The Crew has an all-time winning U.S. Open Cup record of 18-12-13 dating back to 1998. Crew SC won the tournament in 2002, de-feating the LA Galaxy 1-0 in the final.

Accam registered 42 touches and at-tempted 13 passes. The midfielder joined the Crew from the Phila-delphia Union. Prior to joining the Black & Gold, Accam played for the Chicago Fire from 2015 – 2017 and the Philadelphia Union from 2018-2019.
