2019 JUMP$TART NAT IONAL EDUCATOR CONFERENCE • NOVEMBER 1 -3 , 2019 • THE H ISTOR IC MAYFLOWER HOTEL • WASH INGTON, DC

ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

The Jump$tart National Educator Conference was founded in 2009 as the first national conference dedicated solely to financial education in our nation’s schools and the talented teachers who bring this important subject to life in their classrooms, every day. With the help of our dedicated supporters, who, for the first decade, subsidized the costs for teachers to attend—we ramped up that support last year, turning the conference into an all-scholarship event. We are delighted to continue the new tradition this year—and all teacher participants will attend #JSNEC19 on scholarships that cover registration, hotel accommodations, and conference meal events!

We hope you will join us in thanking our conference underwriters (the Cornell Douglas Foundation, Experian, and the Wells Fargo Foundation), premier scholarship providers (the Intuit Financial Freedom Foundation and Next Gen Personal Finance), and all the very generous scholarship providers and sponsors who have made #JSNEC19 possible.

Scholarship RecipientsCongratulations! Classroom educators from across the country who teach personal finance or incorporate it into any subject, at any grade level Prek-12, were invited to apply for registration scholarships provided by a variety of generous donors. Teachers who received funding through the independent scholarship programs conducted by some of our affiliated state coalitions, national Jump$tart Coalition Partners, and others have been notified by those programs and were sent a special link to register for the conference online. Teachers who were awarded a scholarship through Jump$tart’s scholarship program have received (or will receive) instructions and a registration link directly from Jump$tart. Teachers who applied to Jump$tart’s program and were not selected in the first round are automatically placed on the wait-list in case of cancellations.

What’s Included and What’s NotAll Jump$tart National Educator Conference scholarships cover full conference registration, including a private hotel room (for the nights of November 1 and 2) and six conference meals (from Friday dinner through Sunday lunch), as well as conference materials.

Teacher participants are responsible for: their own travel and ground transportation; parking fees; guest registration; optional Monuments by Moonlight tour; optional pre-conference activities; extra hotel room nights (though, if book through our conference registration system, you will get them at our special group rate); and your personal incidental expenses throughout your trip. Note that scholarships provided through independent scholarship programs may cover travel and other expenses. Please contact your scholarship provider for additional information.

All teacher registrants will be asked for a $100 credit card deposit at the time of registration. This deposit is fully refundable if you attend the conference and it will be credited to the same card at the conclusion of the conference.

Teacher Registration: September 2 - 13Once you have received notification of your scholarship along with a link to register online, please register right away. Unclaimed registration spots will be given to wait-listed applicants after September 13.

We encourage you to read through this online conference brochure before you register and consider:• Your plans to participate in optional pre-conference activities.• Your selection of three breakout sessions.• Your potential need for extra hotel room nights before or after the conference (at your own expense; but at our special group rate if you reserve them when you register for

the conference).• Event registration for your spouse or other adult guest. (See page 3.)• Your interest in the optional Monuments by Moonlight tour on Saturday evening.• Making your own travel arrangements to ensure participation in the full conference.

ABOUT THE CONFERENCE continued

Guest RegistrationRegistered teachers have the option of purchasing a guest badge (for $125) to enable their spouse or other adult guest to attend all six conference meal events. We’re sorry; we are not able to offer a meal-by-meal option. The number of guest participants will be limited by room capacity, so we strongly encourage you to register your guest when you register for the conference. Guest badges will be sold onsite at the conference, but only if space is still available. Participation is not recommended for children. The Monuments by Moonlight tour is optional (and extra) for both teachers and guests.

15 Professional Development HoursTeachers who participate in the entire conference will receive a certificate for 15 Professional Development Hours at the end of the conference. Teachers must arrange their travel to enable them to participate in the entire event.

National Standards in K-12 Personal Finance EducationAll registered teacher participants will receive a copy of the 2017 printing of the 2015 edition of the National Standards in K-12 Personal Finance Education. Workshops and materials presented at this conference are designed to align generally with these National Standards.

Download the Conference App Based on the positive feedback we’ve received from prior-year attendees, the Jump$tart National Educator Conference has eliminated its printed program in favor of our Conference App. Before you arrive, download our conference app onto your smart phone or other mobile device to keep the conference schedule, presenter bios, and other important information close at hand. We’ll use the app onsite to push out reminders and announcements, and to help conference participants connect with each other during and after the conference.

Look for an announcement in the coming weeks that the #JSNEC19 conference app is available in the Apple App Store or Google Playstore. Then, download it to your own phone and your should be ready to go. If you need help, the Jump$tart team can help you onsite at the conference—but we recommend that you download the app before you come, if you’re able. If apps just aren’t your thing, a daily schedule of events will be posted at the conference registration desk onsite.
