Newsletter #33Friday 18 October 2019
Dear Parents
There are so many wonderful and exciting things happening at the moment. Hence the long newsletter (sorry!) It’s an exhausting but happy time.
Thank you for your wonderful attendance at HS Awards and also for embracing Karen Ferry so fully; she has loved being in our community and leaves on Saturday. I know that many of you wanted to have one-on-ones with her and we have been unable to accommodate the number of requests. You are welcome to mail her for a copy of her PowerPoints at [email protected] and she will reply when she is back in Australia. This will be her notes without all the pictures. Also, could I request that you don’t mail her requesting counselling as she goes back to a full practice and speaking schedule. This is not because she doesn’t want to but she has realities on that side.
We are also excited that the building of our two new classrooms is going well and are looking forward to being in these facilities in January.

FROM THE FINANCE OFFICE: IMPORTANT INFORMATION (AND WORTH READING…!) • Hatfield Christian School is switching to First National Bank – in order to encourage all parents to
make the switch – we are running an internal competition - the prize is one month’s school fee for one child. Any parent who pays their school fees in to the new bank account during the period 25 October 2019 to 24 November 2019 will go into the draw. Parents who pay by debit order will also go into the draw.
First National BankCurrent accountBranch Code: 210554Account number: 62824753728Account name: Hatfield Christian School
Parents who pay by debit order will be contacted separately in order to sign a new mandate for FNB. This will take effect from the 1st January 2020
• It’s the time of the year where we charge re-enrolment fees (Gr 0 to Gr 11). These are charged
this month but please note that they are only due by 30 November 2019. If you have signed a Debit Order, the re-enrolment fee will go off on your December debit order. The purpose of the re-enrolment fee is that we can be secure that your intention to return your child to HCS is a sure one. Prior to the introduction of this fee, we had many surprises on the 1st school day in January when pupils just didn’t return to school. And, by this stage it was often too late for us to fill those spaces. This amount is refunded in March 2019. As communicated in our Anticipated Costs (Dec 2018) the amount of the re-enrolment fee is: • R2 850 for 1st child• R2 140 for 2nd child• R0/child thereafter
• December School fees must be paid in full prior Monday 2 December.
• If the receipt of school fee statements is a challenge for you, please remember you can logon to the Parent Portal and view any of this information at any time.
AFTERCARE POSITIONS We are advertising some aftercare positions for 2020. Please see the attachment or website for details.
PS CHRISTMAS MARKET We’re really excited about our first PS Christmas Market… an ideal way for little ones to buy Christmas presents and save families some money. Please see the attachment and direct any queries to Mrs van Schalkwyk. And, please contribute to the cause!
FOCUS ON THE FAMILYFocus on the Family is holding an event at Hatfield Church on Monday 29 October. Please see the attachment.

PS: FOCUS ON CHARACTER During this year our Primary school has given attention to the following character traits; to be Considerate! Courageous! Connected! Self-Controlled! Committed! and now we are doing Creativity! We serve a creative God who has given each and every one of us - a talent, a perspective, a place in life – that God can use to help all those around us, as we surrender to His plans and purposes (Eph 2:10.) So, we challenge you, as a family and as individuals, to find a creative outlet that glorifies God and is an expression of the unique talent God has blessed you with. Whether you paint it, write it, design it, dance it or build it - creatively express yourself! For some more ideas, look at the following links: https://babbledabbledo.com/5-easy-ways-find-time-family-creativity/https://www.brucevanpatter.com/familyideas.htmlhttps://www.redbubble.com/people/layerform/works/11994957-40-ways-to-stay-creative-poster?finish=semi_gloss&p=poster&size=small&country_code=US&gdffi=041ef76107884df4b9b8799bd2252354&ahttps://www.kitchentableclassroom.com/https://i.pinimg.com/originals/6d/e9/fd/6de9fde298a37d194347e7d33e452b7f.jpghttps://vimeo.com/34468884https://za.pinterest.com/search/pins/?q=christian%20colouring&rs=typed&term_meta[]=christian%7Ctyped&term_meta[]=colouring%7Ctyped

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas Dear Parents
We are so excited for our first Primary school Christmas market! It will
be held on the 28th of November, in our Media Centre, during school hours.
We would like to encourage a heart of giving amongst our pupils. So,
instead of spending exorbitant amounts in the shops, we will encourage
them to shop at our Christmas Market and surprise you with their gifts on
Christmas day.
We will need donations which can be sent to your child’s class teacher
from 21 October – 26 November. You can either re-gift presents you have
been given or send gently used items. It’s the perfect time for your family
to spring clean, to find these hidden treasures for donation! We would like
the children to shop for Mom, Dad and siblings. Kindly consider how many
people you would want to buy for when donating items.
Some donation ideas:
Candles, bath items, frames, candle sticks, scarves, jewellery, platters/
bowls, edibles (that will last until Christmas), ties, key rings, office items/
stationery, books, used toys (in good condition), puzzles, soft toys and
any other items that you may want to donate.
All items will be sold at R20 and the money will go towards our Outreach
fund. We hope to have enough items for our Gr 0 – Gr 5 pupils to buy, but this will depend on the donations… The Gr 6 pupils will help our little ones
shop and find the appropriate items for their family members.
We will also need moms to help with sorting the gifts on Wednesday 27 November from 14:00 as well as Moms to help wrap gifts on Thursday 28 November from 8:00. If you are available to assist, please would you mail Mrs van Schalkwyk ([email protected]) by 21 November.
