2 A Word from Our PastorDear FBC Pelham Faith Family, For the past four years we have been asking, “What? Where? Who?” What are you learning? Where are you going? Who are you trying to reach? Since a disciple of Jesus is a life-long believing learner of Christ – What are you learning? Since a disciple of Jesus is on mission as an ambassador representing the King across the street and across the globe – Where are you going? Since a disciple intentionally reaches people with the Gospel – Who are you trying to reach? If the answers to these questions don’t come to mind in 3 seconds or less, then perhaps you are not being intentional enough. We can’t go everywhere but we can go somewhere with the Gospel. We can’t do everything but we can do something for the good and glory of God. We can’t reach everybody but we can reach somebody before it is too late. I am so encouraged to see the Christian footprint of FBC Pelham growing larger and larger in our hearts and in our world. We are certainly striving to make disciples for global impact. I am thrilled to hear the stories and excitement about our 19 mission trips in 2019. The 3 Circle Gospel Training Seminar was spectacular and I hope, trust, and pray that you who have been trained have at least used “Your Story & God’s Story” – the 15 second testimony and the simple presentation of the 3 Circles – with someone over the past four weeks. As it has been written – keep telling the story, be faithful and true, let others see Jesus in you. The month of March is going to be great! VERITAS will be in concert during the morning services on Sunday, March 3. You never want to miss any Sunday (I know) but you definitely don’t want to miss the first Sunday of the month! They will be leading us during the music portion of our morning worship services. There is a lot of maintenance work going on in and around the church building. Many of our D-Groups are helping with a work day on Saturday, March 9. If you have questions and/or are interested, please contact Pastor Don Dixon. On Sunday, March 17 there will be an interest meeting for the Memphis Mission Trip (June 22-28) at 4:00 PM in the Annex. Our Senior Adults will be going on mission to New Orleans at the end of the month (March 24-28). I love you and I look forward to seeing you soon and often! May God be pleased with His church and praised by His church both now and forevermore! Your Pastor and Friend,Daven

Children’s Ministry

2019 is off and running in the Preschool and Children’s Department! Our annual Winter Swim at UAB Pool was a big hit as always, and we had over 90 children at the Annex for our “Faith In Action” DNow 2019. Now, we look ahead to our Family Fun Night on March 8th, Egg Hunts (look for details coming soon), and of course, gearing up for VBS 2019. If you haven’t signed up to help this year, please email Carole ([email protected]) to volunteer today. We always have a blast, and we can’t do it without you!! —Jonathan Williams

Cathy and I recently had the opportunity to attend our annual conference for Worship Pastors and their wives. This conference has become a highlight of our ministry career for the past 16 years. We look forward to it every year and always return encouraged, challenged, and renewed! I loved sharing with many of my peers all that God is doing here at First Baptist Pelham. Thank you for supporting us and allowing us to be gone for this yearly conference. I’m very excited to announce that on Sunday, March 3, we will have the honor of hosting the musical group “VERITAS” in both morning services. “VERITAS,” which means “Truth” in Latin, is composed of five of the most talented male singers you will hear in today’s church music culture. All five men found their humble beginnings at the University of Mobile in the “Voices of Mobile,” and the vocal group TRUTH, led by Dr. Roger Breland. Since their debut in 2012, VERITAS has toured the world, singing and sharing the gospel in such venues as Carnegie Hall, Astros Stadium, and most recently touring with Sandi Patty on her “Forever Grateful Tour.” The group also just recently returned from Haiti, where they partnered with Holt International to provide mission aid and benefit concerts for underprivileged children. Cathy and I consider these five men true friends in the ministry. I’ve had the privilege of hosting Veritas six times in former churches. They are the real deal, and their talent will blow you away! Pastor Daven will continue his sermon series after VERITAS leads us in worship. You do not want to miss Sunday morning, March 3. Cathy & I look forward to seeing you in worship. Blessings, Brett

Worship Ministry

It has been quite a ride since officially beginning the first of January. We are enjoying a good attendance and spirit in Sunday Night Bible Study, “Genesis Verse by Verse”. We have enjoyed two monthly luncheons, with February including a banquet atmosphere. In a few days we will “scout” New Orleans in preparation for the annual Senior Adult Mission Trip. That mission

effort will be held March 24-28, and nearly 40 plan to participate. Our next monthly luncheon will include an informative program regarding the Jimmie Hale Mission during this their 75th anniversary year. A long time employee at the mission is Terry Preston. He is also a Minister of Music at a Birmingham church and he will share a brief concert as well. This is March 12 at 11:00 am and we will enjoy a pot luck lunch together. Thank you FBC Pelham for a warm welcome, tremendous support and abundant encouragement. Please pray for the success of every endeavor and most of all that the Lord will be lifted up and people will be built up in Christ! —Randy Atkinson

5 The Counselor’s Corner I prayed for her while she was in the waiting room. In my spirit I knew she needed love and understanding…….. and to know someone cared. I asked God to help me love her. Upon completing that short prayer, I flipped my calendar to the day’s date and this is what I read.

We love…………because He first loved us.1 John 4:19 KJV

From time to time we encounter individuals who fall outside our circle of acquaintances. Usually these people are different from us in many ways and they may even be difficult to be around. As Christians we may question how it is possible to follow the Lord’s commandment to love one another, especially those who are so different and sometimes act unloving. I am fully persuaded that when we approach God with this question and with a desire to love as HE commanded…………….... He always, always comes through. Linda Story The HOPE Counseling Center

WMU will meet on Monday, March 11, at 10 AM in the Quad

Room. Our program will be concerning the 2019 Home Mission emphasis. Matt Wright will inform us on recent mission trips. We will be collecting a special Annie Armstrong Offering.

Activities/Outreach Ministries Upward is over and I wanted to say thank you to our church for sup-porting Upward Sports. We had 8 first time salvation decisions, 33 rededica-tions, 10 would like for someone to tell them how to be saved, and 4 families would like for someone to tell them how to join the church! The evaluations were overwhelmingly positive. We have a great platform to share the gospel.

We are always in need of golf cart drivers and greeters. Please contact Holly Kelley at [email protected] to sign up. —Donnie Sisk
