KHS Students Participate in local Art Show and take home Best in Show!

Students at KHS participated in the local high school show titled “A Brush with Art” at Jack Richeson School of Art and Gallery in Kimberly. There were seven participating schools, Appleton East, Appleton North, Freedom, Little Chute, Xavier, and Kimberly. The show began in December, and runs through February 9th. The award for best in show was presented on Friday January 11th, and the recipient was Anna Armstrong, from KHS! She received a $250 certificate for materials at Jack Richeson. The People’s Choice Award will be announced at the end of the show in February. If you get a chance to stop in and see the show and vote for your favorite piece, you won’t regret it!

Congrats to our six participants from KHS, as well as the winner of the highest honor of the

exhibit. Awesome job to Anna Armstrong for receiving the “Best in Show” award!

September 24, 2018

Dear Kimberly High School Parent or Guardian,

Beginning in the 14-15 school year, the state of Wisconsin introduced a number of changes to the state’s student assessment system. Since that time, those changes have remained consistent and include:

ACT Aspire Early High School Assessment - grades nine and ten ACT and ACT WorkKeys - grade eleven Wisconsin Forward - grade ten

The ACT Aspire Early High School Assessment will cover five subject areas for students in grades nine and ten: reading, math, writing, language arts, and science. The tests will be computer-delivered and will be spread out over multiple days. Students in grade nine will test during their English classes from April 8th - 12th. Students in grade ten will test on April 24th and 25th during a modified school schedule. In addition, students in grade ten will take the Wisconsin Forward Exam, a social studies test, that will be administered by computer as part of our modified schedule on April 25th.

In addition, every junior in the state of Wisconsin is required to take the ACT and WorkKeys assessments. This year, those tests will be held on February 20th and 21st. All juniors will report on those dates for the testing schedule. One significant change from last year is that juniors will be the only class to report on February 20th. Grades 9,10, and 12 will not report on February 20th but will follow the modified school schedule on February 21st.

Please note the modified school schedules listed on the next page for important dates regarding spring assessments. If possible, please avoid these dates with scheduled absences for your student.

Additional information about the ACT Aspire Early High School Assessment and Wisconsin Forward Exam will be shared as the spring assessment dates get closer.

More information for families is available from the Wisconsin DPI by clicking here. If you have questions about any of our state assessments for the year, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,

Kaaren Weyers
