SCHOLARSHIP DEADLINES ARE YOU ELIGIBLE? To be eligible for a Doyon Foundation scholarship, you must:

· Be enrolled to Doyon, Limited or be the child of an original enrollee

· Be accepted to an accredited college, university, technical or vocational school

· Maintain a minimum GPA and be enrolled in a minimum number of credits

Doyon Foundation was established as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization in 1989 by Doyon, Limited. As the private foundation for Doyon, Limited, we serve the educational and cultural needs of Doyon’s shareholders and their children. DOYON LANGUAGES ONLINE In summer 2019, we launched the first four Doyon Languages Online courses, as well as a special memorial course based on the work of the late Isaac Juneby. These online language-learning courses are now available for free to all interested learners at doyonfoundation.com/dlo:

OUR LANGUAGE GRANTSIn 2019, we were pleased to award a total of $50,000 to nine organizations to support community-based language revitalization projects through the Our Language grant program. 2019 recipients include:· Athabascan Fiddlers Association, KRFF 89.1

Voice of Denali language programming· Council of Athabascan Tribal Governments,

Gwich’in language learning and material creation around salmon fishing

· Fairbanks Native Association, Denaakk’e Hʉdełnekkaa parent group

· Koyukuk Tribal Council, Denaakk’e language revitalization program

· Organized Village of Grayling, 11-week Holikachuk course

· Native Village of Minto, Tr’ukheyiyh, “We are talking,” one-year pilot project

· Nulato Tribal Council, 1983 Central Koyukon workbook translation

· Tanana Tribal Council, Tanana cooperative community language preservation and revitalization project

· Tetlin Village Council, Tetlin Culture Days Nee’aanèegn’ (Upper Tanana) language sessions

The 10 ancestral languages of the Doyon region represent half of the 20 Native languages in state of Alaska, which are made up of nine Athabascan languages plus Inupiaq. The Doyon Foundation language revitalization program is dedicated to revitalizing the Native languages of the Doyon region and helping endangered languages thrive for future generations.
