Dear Friends,

Thank you! Together with your contributions of time, talent and money last year we positively impacted 13,577 pediatric patient families through Ronald

McDonald House Charities® (RMHC) of the Intermountain Area! Our 72-room Ronald McDonald House® welcomed 3,673 guest families with 11,096

individual family members that called our House their ‘home’ for 23,479 nights (a record occupancy of 91%). We offered needed respite for

7,422 families, with 10,321 individuals that visited our Ronald McDonald Family Rooms® within Primary Children’s Hospital 118,829 times

during the year! Our eight overnight retreat rooms within the hospital averaged 95% occupancy. Our Hospitality Carts at Ogden

Regional Medical Center and Shriner’s Hospital for Children served 2,482 pediatric patient families. Remarkably, 1,340 Adopt

a Meal groups lovingly prepared and served 66,950 meals for pediatric patient families at the House and Family Room, and

43,085 volunteer hours were contributed during the year! Our guest satisfaction scores increased in every category from

2018 to 2019 at both the Ronald McDonald House and Ronald McDonald Family Rooms.

We were honored to have once again received Charity Navigator’s highest Four-Star Rating for nonprofit accountability and

excellence and thrilled to be recognized for the first time as a 2019 Top Utah Employer by the Salt Lake Tribune. We were

also selected for an RMHC Global Grant for Excellence to develop and launch new Hospitality and Wellness Programming.

We continued to develop the adjacent properties North of our Ronald McDonald House for a beautiful backyard greenspace

and campus expansion to open in 2020 made possible by extraordinary donors who have pledged $3.1M toward the project.

Thank you to our amazing and wonderfully committed volunteers and generous donors that fueled our mission. We were

amazed and humbled by the exceptional generosity we witnessed during the year with a record Spirit of Children Gala, Grand

Giver Program and Golf Tournament. Most importantly, thank you to the families we serve - the inspiring child patients and warrior

mothers, fathers and sisters and brothers. Thank you for teaching us what is important – our health and each other.

Together we are surrounding families with the support they need to be near and care for their seriously ill or injured children. Thank you

for making this possible.

LLOYD TANI, M.D.

We were delighted to honor Dr. Lloyd Tani with

the Board Volunteer of the Year award in 2019.

Dr. Tani serves as the Chief of the Division of

Pediatric Cardiology at the University of Utah and

as the Co-Director of the Heart Center at Primary

Children’s Hospital, and Co-Chair of our RMHC

Medical Advisory Committee with Emmie Gardner.

Dr. Tani has expanded our Medical Advisory

Committee and engaged experts to help guide

our practices and policies in providing family-

centered care. With his thoughtful leadership,

The 72-Room Ronald McDonald House is located in Salt Lake City

within miles of our major partner hospitals. Families of pediatric

patients can stay together while their child is getting the treatment they

need. Not only does the House offer the 72-bedrooms, some that can

sleep up to 5 people, there are also large gathering spaces, a large

kitchen, a theater room, play room, game room, work-out room and

more. We are also excited to be opening a new backyard park in 2020

to complement the existing outdoor courtyard where families can

congregate and play together.

Primary Children’s Hospital FAMILY ROOMS

Ronald McDonald Family Rooms

Ronald McDonald House Charities operates 2 Family Rooms located

within Primary Children’s Hospital. The 2nd Level Family Room serves

parents with a child being treated in the Pediatric ICU, Neuro Trauma

Unit, and Cardiac ICU. While the 2nd Level Family Room is just for

parents, our Family Room on Level 3 is available for families,

children and guests to visit together. Parents are steps away

from their child being treated and can access showers, a

combined 8 overnight sleep rooms, a fully-stocked

kitchen, computers, crafts and more.

Ronald McDonald Hospitality Carts

Ronald McDonald House Charities operates 2 Hospitality

Carts: one at Shriner’s Hospital for Children and one at

Ogden Regional Medical Center. These hospitality carts offer

pediatric patients and their families snacks, toys, crafts and

activities, toiletries, treats and more. Our hospitality cart at

Shriner’s Hospital is centrally located and serves all patients

from its position in the main lobby. Our cart at Ogden

Regional Medical Center serves patients and families on the

Newborn ICU, Pediatric Unit and Labor and Delivery and is

mobile allowing it to go directly to patient rooms.

2019 Hearts and Hands Award

Linda Leckman and Karen Orr have volunteered

for many years with Ronald McDonald House

Charities of the Intermountain Area and we

were able to recognize them at the annual

National Philanthropy Day with the Hearts and

Hands Award. We are honored to have these

two amazing volunteers share their time and

talents in our Ronald McDonald House and

our Ronald McDonald Family Rooms located at

Primary Children’s Hospital.

OLLIEProudly serving as CPO (Chief PAWSitivity Officer) Ollie is our Therapy Dog. Ollie’s role at the

Charity is to offer love and support for our pediatric patient guest families

by entertaining them with his arsenal of tricks, snuggling

when it’s most needed, and just generally

being everyone’s favorite pal.

Help our families feel at home by providing a home-cooked meal for them after a long day at the hospital. Sign up online to adopt a meal at the House or at the Family Room at Primary Children’s Hospital.

Family Room Volunteer

Serve as a hospitality volunteer in the Family Room—greeting guests, offering tours, and maintaining a friendly, home-like atmosphere for families of sick and injured children. Please call for available shifts.
