An arts institution of the 21st century, we transcend geographic, denominational, and cultural boundaries to illuminate the common threads of our world’s shared human heritage. As North America’s first and only museum dedicated exclusively to the arts and cultures of Islamic civilizations, the Aga Khan Museum acts as both a showcase for thousands of years of art and artefacts from around the world, and a catalyst for insights and perspectives into vibrant societies which have too often been misunderstood.

Our vision is to change perceptions by creating a more connected pluralistic world forged through the preservation and appreciation of art. Through our exhibitions, educational programming, and performing arts series we act as a bridge capable of

cutting through the artificial divides that have been growing between east and west in modern times. In just five short years of the Museum’s existence, the necessity for an arts institution capable of reaching people on an emotional level to overcome cultural difference has proven to be of mounting importance.

In support of our vision, and in celebration of our fifth anniversary, the Aga Khan Museum presents presents Lapis Ball 2019. Hosted by Prince Amyn Aga Khan, this exclusive event will be attended by more than 300 business leaders, patrons of the arts, and philanthropists from around the world. This remarkable evening features a vast array of performances, exhibitions, and cuisine that exemplifies how we are more alike than different.

Our ImpactFunds raised from Lapis Ball 2018 assisted the Museum in:

• Delivering to the public four major exhibitions that were unique in their content and engaging in their presentation.

• Hosting/staging more than 150 performances illustrating and celebrating the potential and power of the performing arts.

• Providing more than 7,000 students with the opportunity to engage with our architecture and Collections during innovative hands-on educational programming.

• Expanding its programming beyond our walls to change public perceptions about what a museum can be and do.
