On January 1, 2019, Alps Electric Co., Ltd. and Alpine Electronics, Inc.integrated their businesses and started out afresh as Alps Alpine Co., Ltd.

　Alps Alpine will steadily bring about synergies by drawing on the two companies' advantagesin core devices, system design and software development.

　Economies, movements of people and flows of goods have become

increasingly globalized, and in the automotive industry a once-in-a-century major

transformation is underway, as demonstrated by the "CASE" trends — connected

cars, autonomous driving, sharing and services, and electric vehicles. A fourth

industrial revolution, harnessing artificial intelligence (AI) and the Internet of

Things (IoT), is also taking shape as ongoing sophistication of communication

infrastructure dramatically changes the way we work and lead our lives.

　In this climate of turbulent change and transition, the Alps Group sensed

a need to evolve into a structure that could more effectively leverage its

innovativeness with technology and the value of its products. Hence Alps Electric

and Alpine integrated their businesses as of January 2019, starting out afresh as

Alps Alpine.

　Drawing on the advantages of both Alps Electric and Alpine, the new company

will endeavor to create its own unique value for not only the automotive market,

but also mobile devices and consumer electronics, as well as new sectors such

as energy, healthcare and industry. Alps Alpine will evolve into a "T-shaped

Company," combining expertise that Alps Electric has built up over a history

of more than 70 years in device development based on original technologies,

advanced production capabilities, and a global manufacturing and sales network

with Alpine's system design and software development prowess.
