37th Newcastle National Exhibition of Photography - 2018/2019

The 37th Newcastle Exhibition of Photography (Newcastle National) was jointly presented by two organisations; the Newcastle Agricultural, Horticultural and Industrial Association “The Show” and the Newcastle Photographic Society.

The 37th running of the event was brought forward this year with closing and judging processes being held in December 2018 to clear from the Christmas/New Year festive season while the exhibition of entries will be held as usual during the Newcastle Show on 1, 2, 3 March 2019.

The competition continued with the MyPhotoClub Online entry process, which was again very successful, empowering entrants to play a greater role in the entry process as well as streamlining the management of accepting and judging the entries.

We thank all entrants for supporting this exhibition. We appreciate the time given by the dedicated volunteers (members of local camera clubs) involved in the Exhibition's planning and execution. Without their support, the Newcastle National would not take place.

For this competition, we had an increase in the number of entrants, the number of entries and new entrants, which is very pleasing. This was in part due to introducing the Travel Photography section in lieu of Creative section.

Both organisations acknowledge the entries submitted this year. Overall the standard of entries was quite high and varied, we look forward to exhibiting the high-quality work at the Newcastle Show.

We also look forward to your participation again in the 38th Newcastle National and ask that you encourage your fellow club members, and other photographers in general, to enter next year. This is one of the few “print only” competitions remaining and we need your support to continue the heritage.
