8/30-9/28 Kymberly Day Art ExhibitArtist Kymberly Day constructs composition using conventions of the human and animal figure in her painting and sculpture. Sampling gesture and form from multiple periods, art history becomes an avenue for exploring tropes of the parallels between man and animal. Recently, Day created a site-specific sculptural installation in the Loft Gallery as she worked as Winter Resident at The Bascom: A Center for Visual Arts in Highlands, N.C.

8/31 Independent, By John BabcockDan Triandiflou’s one-man performance as John Cassavetes, the godfather of American independent film, depicts a dramatic moment in the extraordinary life of the influential filmmaker. Using Cassavetes’ own inspiring words, the play follows his journey from being a struggling actor to a young Hollywood writer/director clashing with the system, to his realization that true freedom and happiness lies in carving one’s own path.

Recommended for mature audiences due to strong language and adult themes.
